Actalent is Hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer in Kansas City!
Description:
Ability to perform product development from conception to completion including all design stages: concept, design, technical drawing, prototype review, cost management, sourcing, and launch.
Develop the mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for lift products: definition, documentation, prototyping, testing and debugging, qualification, and release to production of reliable and cost-effective solutions.
Evaluate and optimize product concepts for function (e.g., fit, function, interference, etc.), manufacturability, packaging and material handling.
Review/Approve finalized engineering product drawings with dimensions, performance specifications, GD&T and quality specifications
Generate product prototypes, perform product testing and ensure that new products function properly, meet specifications, and timing objectives
Develop and evaluate cost analysis for new and modified product concepts from design through production launch.
Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with existing products.
Responsible for new product development that meets safety compliance requirements (FDA, CE, UL, FCC and others) and coordinate product compliance testing.
Maintain engineering documentation such as bills of material, procedures and other types of engineering documentation in Document Control Database system.
Test plans and coordinate with internal/external testing resources and ensure the quality of testing and reporting.
Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
Conducts engineering studies on design for products, associated and subsystems components, and structures.
Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product proposals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
Proficiency in Solidworks
Must have 2-3 years of mechanical design experience (internship can count as year 1)
Familiarity with drawing configuration management control process and changes to designs
Read and understand schematics
Experience with mechanical gears, bearings, and rolling elements
Precise with attention to detail
