Position: Mechanic Helper

　　Department: Public Works

　　Division: Shop

　　Rate of Pay: $15.75/hr.

　　Nature of Work:

　　This position involves the semi-skilled maintenance of a variety of city vehicles and equipment. Employees in this class are responsible for assisting in the maintenance of equipment such as automotive cars and trucks, heavy-duty class trucks, tractors, dozers, mowers, pumps, and utility maintenance and equipment. Work is designated by supervisors.

　　Essential Functions:

　　· Performs oil and lube maintenance on assorted vehicles and equipment.

　　· Assists in the repair, replacement, and installation of certain parts, including brakes, clutches, wheels, etc.

　　· Performs related work as requested or required.

　　Qualifications:

　　· High school diploma or G.E. D. equivalent

　　· Minimum one year working experience as an automotive mechanic

　　· Equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the required tasks

　　Applicant must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) of at least a Class "B" status or agree to obtain such license within six (6) months of hire.
