Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North America's premier processors, buyers, sellers, and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to North America's metals industry. FPT is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Mechanic on day shift at the Detroit, MI location. The Mechanic is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of trucks and heavy-duty machinery.

　　Summary of Responsibilities:Ensure adherence to safety standards including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), remove hazards as identified, and maintain cleanliness of the site.Performs repairs on engines, brakes, suspensions, transmissions, and electrical equipment on the site's trucks and yard machinery.Air system diagnostics and repair.Electrical diagnostics and repairsInspect, lubricate and service equipment per company maintenance schedules.Change flat tires.Make service calls on down trucks and pick up parts from various dealerships as required.Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and make necessary repairs, adjustments, or replacementsDrive trucks and trailers to test their performance.Perform cleaning duties related to plant equipment and general housekeepingOther duties as assigned.

　　Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED and must be at least 18 years of age.Must have valid driver's license, CDL preferred.Experience as a diesel mechanic and experience with hydraulic systems preferred.Experience welding and torching preferred.Mechanic license or equivalent experience.Ability to work independently, self motivated and self-directed.Good communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to maintain accurate recordsAbility to follow oral and written communicationAbility to climb ladders or steps to reach objectsAbility to endure physical and outdoor work on a daily basis.Ability to lift up to 50lbs.Work cooperatively with other employees and the publicMust be able to work rotating shiftsMust be able to work in an environment where routinely exposed to dust, dirt, vibrations, extreme climate and changes in weather.Pre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required
