The Materials Manager will be responsible for handling the buyers/planners, trade compliance, receiving and ensuring that the procurement process runs smoothly. You will be responsible for the entire materials management process, working closely with manufacturing, warehouse teams and other Emerson supply plants globally. Lead daily production plans by ensuring vital material is available to meet demand and by using plant capacity to support customer requirements. Drive strong service levels by forecasting and planning material levels and meeting inventory targets, while improving days on hand. Responsibilities for developing strong supplier relationships, sourcing, quoting and providing support for corporate initiatives. Works through product life cycles, inventory policies, supply chain initiatives and maintains trade compliance programs. Collaborate with management regarding the monthly sales & operations planning meetings with North America.
IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
Lead the materials team in Canada that include buyers, planners, trade compliance analyst, receiver and coordinators located in Brantford, ON and resources in Manila, Philippines.
Develop, coach, cross-train and empower teams to ensure the highest level of flexible capabilities that support a high mix, low volume manufacturing facility.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast & plan demand, purchase material, receive product, plan production, lead inventory levels and optimize a global supply chain efficiency.
Plan and implement procurement activities, including purchasing raw materials, components and finished goods from suppliers.
Develop and implement procurement strategies that ensure the timely delivery of materials while minimizing inventory levels and costs.
Ensure trade compliance with company policies and procedures, supporting relevant government laws and regulations.
Handle issues relating to the proper legal interpretation of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Country of Origin designations, and Customs Valuations.
Evaluating and supervising contracts to ensure suppliers and vendors are staying in sync with Emerson terms and conditions.
Provide schedules and measure performance to achieve optimal production throughput while meeting all safety, quality, environment standards and customer expectations.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the materials management function and realize improvements to important metrics.
Analyze data and provide reports to senior management on key performance indicators and supply chain metrics.
Handle past dues, open orders and upcoming orders to prioritize, plan and schedule production.
Ensure that day-to-day manufacturing assembly is achieved according to schedules.
Ensure Machine Shop runs at its optimal output each day and schedules are achieved.
Responsible for sourcing new parts for custom builds, engineering changes and new product launches.
Establishes inventory objectives and optimal inventory targets that support manufacturing efficiencies and ongoing product life cycles while handling the disposition of obsolete and excess inventory.
Handle and implement annual e-count program while supporting daily cycle count program.
Handle supplies, tooling, and equipment requirements in collaboration with Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering.
Work closely with Union members to ensure continued alignments with all employees.
Facilitate and lead departmental daily/monthly communications.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Supply Chain Management.
5+ years’ experience in purchasing/supply chain experience with emphasis on international suppliers and pull-based systems.
2+ years of management experience.
Motivated to work efficiently without direct supervision.
Leadership skills and the ability to coach, develop, empower and inspire others.
Knowledge and in-depth understanding of inventory control, purchasing, distribution, logistics, transportation and material planning systems and principles.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with suppliers.
Knowledge of supply chain best practices and procurement standards.
Strong working experience with Trade Compliance and local regulations.
Able to use analytics and data to make educated and informed decisions.
Confirmed understanding of Microsoft Office Programs and ERP Systems.
Shown ability to work effectively across multiple functional teams like Sales and Customer Service
Passionate about safety and promote a culture where safety comes first.
Strong communication, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:
Professional certification in APICS, CPIM, Lean, Six Sigma
Demonstrated comfort in dealing with senior levels in internal and external organizations.
Strong project management, continuous improvement mentality and team leadership skills with the ability to develop support for change with all levels of internal and external organizations.
Knowledge with BaaN Systems and Oracle is an asset.
We are committed to well-adapted decision making and data plays a big part in this role, which requires comfort with Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Excel and Power BI.
