Objectives of the position:
To ensure an efficient and cost-optimal management and control of the importation, storage, and delivery of goods and for merchandise stock and merchandise through material, in compliance to local laws, regulations, and BASF standards.
To support and collaborate with all involved BASF Sales teams, Service units and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and sufficient good inventory through regular review of customer demand forecasts and minimize aging inventory and disposal of expired inventory.
Main Areas of Responsibilities:
Inventory & Forecast Management
Monitor and update the current Inventory Plan with stock on hand, arriving stock, expired or blocked stock.
Regularly review customer demand forecast and advise Sales team of the current inventory levels.
Provide Aging Stock and Near-to-expire Inventory report monthly to Sales and Leadership teams.
Remind Sales team to review regulatory requirements of materials prior import.
Revise Inventory Plan as needed and advise Customer Service to raise the respective Purchase Orders.
Import Operations
Monitor shipment arrival from Supply Point.
Validate HS codes used and Duties and Taxes computations.
Secure Advanced Shipping Note from Shipping Lines and forward to Logistics Service Providers.
Monitor shipment schedule and ensure that all milestones are updated in the Shipment Monitoring Report.
Cascade delivery instructions to Logistics Service Providers.
Coordinate container delivery after noting status at port, storage fee, demurrage free time and reefer container charges.
Collaborate with Customer Service and Logistics Service Providers for customs clearance and drayage or final leg delivery.
File Non-conformance Management report within specified lead time and with complete documentation.
Confirm return of Empty Container Vans and recover any container deposit.
Warehouse / Inventory Operations
Collaborate with Warehouse Logistics Service Provider’s partners for daily inventory receiving and dispatches.
Conduct periodic cycle count and provide report to Finance and Business Unit.
Reconcile actual and SAP system inventories to maintain inventory accuracy.
Work with Business Unit; Environment, Safety and Health; and Warehouse Logistics Service Provider to properly dispose of expired inventory.
Primary contact for inventory-related damage handling, storage, and disposal.
Invoice Verification and Billing
Check accuracy of invoices from Logistics Service Provider and ensure that all charges are within the agreed standard before processing payment.
Raise dispute for any billing error and monitor payment completion.
Review ad hoc quotes and select optimal solution.
Compliance and Other Processes
Execute activities in line with standard policies and procedures of BASF, and Government and Regulatory Agencies.
Ensure proper safekeeping of shipping and related documents for audit traceability.
Document or update process steps in accordance with applicable guidelines
Provide solutions / alternative processes to Logistics issues / concerns of Business Units
Support Internal Audit and/or ISO recertification Audit.
Update Logistics Service Provider Issue Log for any process issue and request a Corrective Action Report.
Periodically review Logistics Service Provider Key Performance Indicators.
Work with Environment, Safety and Health for Logistics Service Provider compliance to WSA or RSA requirements.
Minimum Education and Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Management or Industrial Engineering, Customs Administration, or related Logistics and Supply Chain courses.
With at least 2 years of combined work experiences in import/export including Customs & Foreign Trade functions, managing external logistics service providers for warehouse / inventory and transportation services in a multinational company setup.
With working knowledge of Supply Chain or Logistics, Import-Export, Inventory-Warehouse Management Operations, Global Trade Control, Import Licenses, Environment, Safety and Health - Transportation and Distribution Safety, Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2000).
With experience in SAP OTC (SD, MM, TM) processes / system applications.
Possess excellent project management and negotiation skills.
Possess strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making, and negotiation abilities.
Have very good relationship building and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office/Windows.
Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and integrity at work.
Demonstrate high level of energy and maintain stable performance under pressure.
Have strong sense of customer service.
Proactive, can work independently and in teams.
