The primary purpose of this position is: To perform the full range of warehousing duties with responsibility of handling or overseeing one or more product lines, a segment of a large warehouse, or serve as the senior employee in a smaller warehouse. The position requires the use of forklift trucks and light motor vehicles.
Duties:
Responsible for organizing and coordinating an effective receiving operation.Responsible for organizing and coordinating an effective storage operation.Performs tasks involved in issuing and shipping items.Operates forklift trucks and automated material handling and identification equipment to include mobile stock selectors and electromechanical automated equipment, such as high-rise automated storage and retrieval vehicles to move, stack and unstack, load and unload, bin, and position material.Drives one or more types of trucks, such as pickup, panel, and flatbed trucks, which typically have a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or less, on public roads at highway speeds.Maintains records and documents actions.Performs material handling duties, including the use of tools and other equipment, in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices and procedures, and complying with established safety rules and regulations.Recruitment Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
Knowledge of accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and material handling techniques; warehousing functions, such as material receiving, storage, issuing, and preservation; and of warehouse configurations, storage requirements for particular commodities, and storage documentation requirements.Knowledge of inventory procedures; regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation; and of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.Skill in the use of automated material processing equipment and systems to include computer terminals, optical readers, and scanners.Ability to interpret and apply instructions pertaining to material handling; and to maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.Ability to prepare inventory and production reports; and to screen shipping and receiving documents fordiscrepancies.Ability to safely operate forklift trucks to handle controls for starting, stopping, backing, lifting, lowering, tilting, and driving forklift trucks through narrow aisles, up and down ramps, and in and out of trucks; and to safely drive and operate a motor vehicle to manipulate controls for starting, stopping, backing, and driving vehicles in all types of traffic and road conditions and in judging overhead, side clearance, turning radius, and braking distance.Other significant facts pertaining to this position are:
May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.Emergency overtime may be required.The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.As required, may train and/or guide other personnel in performance of material handling duties.This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are: Wo ks on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds. May handle heavier items with weightlifting equipment or with assistance from other workers. Work requires light to moderate physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls while driving, raising, lowering, and tilting forklift trucks. Subject to possible strain caused by vibration of forklift trucks.
