Primary Function
Area Coordinators are responsible for coordinating production activities, sustaining continuous improvement activities, manpower assignments, overtime management, vacation sign-up, internal bids, general payroll tasks, coordinating activities to resolve quality issues and coordinating safety activities. These positions are selected through an interview process. Any specific questions should be directed to the Human Resources department. Duties also include assisting the department leadership team with essential functions and daily activities, as required.
General Quality Responsibilities
[ All employees are responsible for the quality of their work. If quality standards or expectations cannot be met, the employee responsible for the work must notify the area supervisor immediately.
Training/Licensing Requirements
Some areas may require PVO, LOTO, Confined Space and some leadership training.
Essential Functions
Daily Coordination of Time & Attendance System: Check the system for call-ins, enter all exceptions into the system, enter production counts (where applicable), enter vacation requests, and charge hours to appropriate accounts or project numbers.
Respond to employee inquiries about PTO Instances, OT, vacations, etc.: check the system for necessary information, and answer the specific inquiry.
Coordinate appropriate manpower to ensure that daily production needs are met: assign labor pool to open positions, arrange coverage for any situation that requires an EE to be off the floor (meetings, training, etc), arrange coverage for all leaves of absence, assign restricted work, assign labor to accommodate model changes, assign individuals to jobs as dictated by internal bids.
Coordinate agency employees and serve as a contact to the agency coordinator: assign jobs, sign timesheets, communicate needs to the agency coordinator, and reconcile timesheets in the Time and Attendance system for agency employees.
Coordinate accurate overtime groupings and signup: Post and remove signup sheets, enter all adjustments and charges in Kronos, post and remove area rankings, post and remove overtime schedule.
Manage vacation scheduling: Process annual vacation sign-ups/requests, enter into Kronos, enter daily vacation requests, and maintain a vacation calendar.
Develop Self and Employees: Train operators in standardized methods, determine operators' ability to work independently, learn and apply lean manufacturing concepts, seek opportunities for continuous learning, and schedule training for employees to serve as backup positions in an area.
Demonstrate values of leadership: Demonstrate enthusiasm for continuous improvement, show respect for individuals, listen to employees and seek to determine an appropriate resolution, encourage open discussion and debate of issues, safeguard the confidentiality of information about the company and fellow employees, offer to help others and seek help when you need it, eliminate non-value-added work.
Provide effective communications: complete daily activity reports for all areas of responsibility, consult openly with your First Line Leader whenever in doubt about any decision or action, encourage employee involvement and participation, and communicate opportunities for rewards and recognition to the First Line Leader.
Communicate daily orders and check sheets: Retrieve current production orders and check sheets, and coordinate revisions to orders with First Line Lead.
Working Procedure
Will lead, follow, or participate in all TPM, WCM, and lean activities.
Need to work the required number of hours determined by department, shift and position.
Uses all designated safety equipment, observes all safety rules, and follows recognized rules of safe practice.
Maintains good housekeeping, and keeps the area and equipment clean.
Performs duties of a similar or lesser skill to facilitate the flow of work in the department.
