In this role, they will support The Human Systems Division providing advanced performance, survival, and protection capabilities to US and allied air, ground, and naval forces. Human Systems manages development, production, and sustainment of human-centered systems such as aircrew life support, egress, survival, nuclear/biological/chemical defense, aeromedical/aeromedical evacuation equipment, medical information, testing/certification, AF uniforms, and aircraft mishap analysis in the Division of Agile Combat Support, Wright Patterson AFB, OH.ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but not limited to:Interpret engineering drawings IAW the proper Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to assist in the application of military specifications, Parachute Industry Association (PIA) Specifications, American Standards of Textiles Materials (ASTM), American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) and any other commercial specifications to perform the following tasks:assisting with inspection proceduresassisting as a technical advisor on life support equipment and related systems and equipment;providing quality assurance inspection through Textiles Materials Testing (TMT), First Articles Testing (FAT), Production Lot Testing (PLT)providing support to engineers on current day mishap investigations, accountability mission and other life support equipment engineering projectsAssist in the development of test plans, new and improved processes, and solving problems in the identification and testing of a wide range of physical and chemical properties of textiles and metal alloys, FAT, and PLT.Provide support for comprehensive technical reports on findings, recommendations, and presentations of the status and adherence to schedules of projects and/or samples; and ensure recommendations are provided to the USG and Mission Partners.Understand ASTM, AATCC, and other USG textile testing standards and procedures to assist in performing the following tasks:general textile sample cutting and test preparationweave patterns, types, plies, deniers, pick count, etc.air permeability testingfiber melting point and fiber identificationcolor shades analysesmaterial tare, burst and hydrostatic strength testingthread construction and twist measurementtextiles laundering inspectiontextiles weathering, fading and color fastness testingtextiles heat aging testingPH measurementburn testingresistance to abrasion testingtensile strength and elongation analyseshand-held and stand-alone dimensional measurement equipmentAssist the USG by preparing test reports at the end of each test.
