Scope & Purpose
Market Access is a critical function of Abbott’s business strategies to ensure success in an increasingly challenging environment. In the context of new evolving regulations and policies, increased cost containment measures and commoditization of products, the organization needs to be more strategic in addressing the barriers to patient access and funding.
Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (ARDx) manages the rapid diagnostics portfolio for ME and NA (MENA) region. This portfolio includes rapid tests for several diseases like infectious diseases (Respiratory, VBD, STis) which are but not limited to (Influenza, RSV, StepA , HIV, Hepatitis, Dengue, Malaria etc.) and gastro-enterology. Diagnostics plays a significant role in detecting disease, prevent or delay its progression, enabling the right treatment selection and patient follow-up.
The Market Access Manager will be responsible for the development and tactical execution of Market Access Strategies in MENA to support business growth. The role will have a strategic and tactical focus for both pre- and post-launched products.
Key activities will include:
Mapping out the access environment and process and key stakeholders
Develop the appropriate access strategy and plan for the region
Design and implement internal and external partnerships projects to enable wider access in funders segment, private health insurance, government programs.
Work with medical department with local societies on local guidelines and policy
Work on innovative financing models, public health programs with key payors
Support Commercial Excellence in pricing optimization strategies during the product lifecycle
This is a strategically important role to expand the market for sustainable business growth.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure pricing & reimbursement/access strategy development and implementation for new products as well as maintenance and optimizing tender & reimbursement/funding strategies for existing products.
Support tender management & pricing submissions and communication health economic models and value massaging to payors.
Establish key strategic partnerships with KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders), societies, policymakers, payers (GOV & PHI) and other stakeholders to enable access and shaping the market environment in MENA.
Proactively monitor and shape access/reimbursement/funding/pricing/ tenders/HTA (Health Technology Assessment)/DRG (Diagnosis Related Group)/guidelines related policies.
Partners with all cross-functional stakeholders to align on priorities and resourcing for business objectives across all portfolios
Timely provide input to global and regional cross-functional teams for new product introduction based on local pricing, tender and reimbursement/funding needs.
Provide input into evidence generation strategy and payor input for NPI product development and launch. identify local opportunities for local evidence generation if relevant.
Responsible for the development & dissemination of specific Market Access tools to support product launch & adoption, adapting global/regional tools as required, and translating complex messages into simple statements that can easily be articulated by commercial team.
Accountable for budget and operating expense management

• Externally: government, KOLs, Non-Government Organisations (NGO), Think Tanks and medical associations…

Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Level of Education:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably science/pharm D, HECON or MD)
Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, MHA, MBA) in healthcare or economics or epidemiology or outcomes research or healthcare related field is preferred
Proficient language skills in English, both verbal and written.
Qualification/Training:
Minimum of 8+ years of healthcare industry experience (diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceutical), with high customer interaction and market access & pricing experience
Solid understanding of Healthcare market access & pricing dynamics, the internal and external policies and environment in MENA
Track record in achieving successful reimbursement, tenders and hospital listings while optimizing pricing, in different provinces in MENA
Demonstrated experience and/or expertise in Health Policy, Health Technology Assessment, Diagnosis-Related Group, medical care delivery systems, shaping the market and guidelines
Significant experience dealing with the relevant health authorities such as HTA Committees, Health Insurance Bureau, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), Ministry of Health, NGOs and payers, etc…
Knowledge of evidence requirements that impact adoption, pricing, reimbursement and market access
Experience in planning and executing health economic and outcomes research studies from concept through publication including management of research vendors or consultants is preferred
Ability to communicate the complexities of Market Access to your internal stakeholders, including sales and marketing teams

Effective in regulated environment: maintaining compliance while achieving commercial goals
Travel as needed, about 50% of time
