SUMMARY: Support VP Risk Management by enforcing internal compliance for Subchapter M and ISM vessels, conducting vessel and company inspections, trainings, and audits, and managing relevant safety and compliance obligations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Generally enforce marine regulatory requirements for all applicable vessels, including internal obligations for Subchapter M boats and ISM vessels, as applicable, ensuring adherence to safety standards;Maintain and review paper logs for each Subchapter M boat to ensure completeness and accuracy;Enter required equipment and log information into MobileOps daily, weekly, and as needed;Coordinate and conduct new employee training on the TSMS system. Work with Subchapter M Boat Captains to familiarize new employees with the relevant Subchapter M vessel and obtain their signatures on Vessel Familiarization Forms;Track, organize, and conduct or verify necessary drills (fire, man overboard, etc.) and document their completion and renewal periods;Coordinate with the Equipment Department for the prompt completion of any required shoreside services indicated by MobileOps;Coordinate with the Equipment Department regarding maintenance of all necessary equipment onboard each Subchapter M vessel;Interact with regulatory entities during annual vessel surveys and external audits;Coordinate drug and alcohol tests as required and in accordance with internal TSMS obligations. This includes coordination with Company Safety personnel and Third Party Drug and Alcohol Administrator;Work with Operations to maintain properly licensed captains aboard each Subchapter M vessel when required;Track and coordinate renewals of captain licenses;Travel to vessel locations as necessary to perform duties; andPerform other activities as directed by the VP Risk Management.COMPETENCIES:To perform the job successfully, an individual should possess and demonstrate the following competencies:

Education/Experience: Bachelors Degree in Marine Science, Safety and Health, or related field,orat least three to five years relevant experience in marine safety and compliance.Audit Certification: ANSI/ISO/ASQ Q 9001-2000 or ISO 9001:2008(E).Knowledge of Subchapter M, 46 C.F.R. 138 and 140, and applicable U.S. Coast Guard regulations.Knowledge of the ISM Code and applicable U.S. Coast Guard regulations.Language Ability: ability to effectively communicate and re pond to questions from manager, clients, regulatory agencies, and internal team. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to convey both written and oral information professionally and clearly across various audiences. Ability to complete written reports and audits, fill out official forms and documentation, and draft inter-office communications.Reasoning Ability: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills: to perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge and experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office software including Outlook and Word. Vista Viewpoint and MobileOps experience preferred, but not required.Physical Presence: Regular and predictable physical presence in the corporate office and in the field on various vessels is an essential qualification for this position due to the timeframes under which the employee will operate and the need for face-to-face interaction with the Operations, Equipment, and Corporate teams to properly perform job-related functions.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position directly supports the Risk Management Department under the direction of the VP of Risk Management. This position provides support to, but is wholly independent of, the Operations and Equipment Departments.

Pay Range: $95,000 - $150,000 Per Year
