Job Summary:
Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced, proactive, and goal-oriented Senior Project Engineer MRL ESTO in our Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) to lead Engineering’s support to Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) deployment and execution of key hardware within the Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) team.
Reporting to the ESTO MRL Manager, the Senior Project Engineer MRL ESTO will lead and manage MRL activities for key and critical hardware interfacing with operations, suppliers, and be integrated with the manufacturing engineering organization MRL team. The ESTO MRL Senior project engineer will be primary owner of key MRL deliverables, planning milestones, risk identification, communication, and mitigation via the ESTO MRL organization. Assigned hardware will primarily hardware including inserts and fasteners assemblies at both PW suppliers and in PW assembly sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Manufacturing Readiness using lean and 6 sigma approaches to improve fasteners to hardware fasteners and inserts yield and process capability to promote conforming, adequate and on time deliveries to PW.
Develop and sustain plans for MRL progression for assigned hardware.
Collaborate with CIPT, Manufacturing Engineering, Procurements and Supplier Development to ensure MRL risks are mitigated in a timely manner.
Support first time assembly pass at suppliers to PW to improve fastener/inserts hardware assemblies.
Obtain timely process capability documentation and data to confirm adequate process performance from suppliers, PFD, PFMEA, PCP, Tool and Gage Plans as well as, Support and assist Qualification, Process Cert and FAI as needed.
Drive required process capability requirements to suppliers to ensure successful manufacturing readiness and ensure the successful execution of MRL progression milestones.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology)
5+ years of Engineering experience, or 3+ years with an advanced degree
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Travel up to 20%
Preferred Qualifications:
ACE/CORE/ 6 Sigma knowledge and/or certification
Strong understanding of other continuous improvement skills: DFSS, Red-X, Lean, etc.
•5+ years of experience in Engineering Program/Project Management
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written), work and relate with people at all levels of the organization and be self-sufficient.
Experience with fastener assembly improvement process is beneficial
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with teams, vendors, customers, and co-workers of all levels.
Excellent knowledge of MS office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, NX, and Outlook.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
