The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is the primary resource for supporting Parker Canada Division Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance processes leading the Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance teams. Responsible for development and implementation of new process and automation for manufacturing, assembly and warehousing operations as well as ensuring maintenance and overall equipment efficiencies for machinery. Ensures continuous improvement in process, cost, quality, and production. Responsible for implementing Lean and Six Sigma processes throughout the shop floor, automating processes as required. Implements processes and tools that eliminate waste in all manufacturing, improving productivity and ensuring adherence to ISO processes. Responsible for creating and maintaining technology and capital equipment roadmap and capital expenditures. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
Accountability/Responsibilities:
· Lead a Team of Engineering and Maintenance professionals
· Digital factory implementation
· Accountable for ensuring maximum cost effectiveness and the reliability of manufacturing process and workflow.
· Determines best practice methods and sequences of manufacturing operations.
· Ensures products and processes meet customer quality requirements by providing input and manufacturing plans for product design or modification.
· Supports the WIN strategy environment.
· Ensuring maximum cost effectiveness and reliability of manufacturing processes and workflow.
· Works with plant employees to create safe work environment.
· Assist with plant layout and co-ordinate moving of Parker equipment.
· Set up new plant processes on new and old machinery.
· Co-ordinate with supervisors to complete new manufacturing processes on time to ensure customer orders ship on time.
· Work with plant employees in areas of CNC programming, new processes, training, health and safety, procedures, policies, and day to day co-ordination with other plants and departments regarding the manufacturing of our products.
· Benchmark other Parker Divisions and share best practices.
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering or Technology field
· P. Eng designation required.
· 5-10 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, supporting operations and/or maintenance.
· 3-5 years’ experience in CNC programming system and manufacturing environment
· Manufacturing Knowledge of fluid power components would be an asset.
· Good knowledge of manufacturing, processes, production reporting
Other Certifications:
· CNC programming certificate (would be an asset)
· Fluid power certificate (would be an asset)
· CME certificate (would be an asset)
Skills:
· Knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
· Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization and with suppliers.
· Must be able and willing to travel.
· Effective presentation skills
· Practitioner of lean principles
· Understanding of CNC controllers Fanuc controls, conversational controls.
· Good understanding of ISO Quality System
· Knowledge of CNC Lathe and Mill processes
· Understanding and design of cutting tools and fixtures
· Good organizational and intrapersonal skills
· Understanding of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems
· Computer Skills –Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Project), Inventor, Edgecam )
· Excellent problem-solving techniques and methods
· Must be able to work independently and prioritize tasks.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Effective communication, problem solving, and team building.
· Demonstrated ability to lead a technical group.
