Sulzer Pump Solutions Ireland Ltd is part of our Water Business Unit which aspires to develop - among other products and solutions that support water recycling in a sustainable energy way. There are 270 employed in the Sulzer Company based in Wexford.
The purpose of the role is to lead a group of Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Technicians to support SPIRL in its annual goals and longer-term strategic vision. To work closely with our local Operations teams, local and global functions and to optimize our current processes across the full Order to cash Value Stream.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
Providing Leadership to drive a culture of Teamwork, Problem Solving, and Project Management Excellence resulting in Continuous Improvement throughout the organization.
Ensures the processes needed for the effective running of the manufacturing engineering team are established, implemented, and maintained.
Manage KPIs and critical success factors to support continuous improvement in the operation.
Work with Operations to identify process bottlenecks, engage teams to develop solutions to optimise and execute flawlessly on implementing projects and problem resolutions in a timely manner.
Drive a focus on Value Stream Mapping for all our operations capturing the current state, developing the future state and supporting the functions to execute towards this aspirational ideal state.
Engage with R&D (PD) early in the product concept and design phases to ensure all new products are designed for manufacturing factoring in product costs and manufacturing cycle times through the NPI process.
Oversight of the Change Management process.
Work closely with Quality Assurance and Quality Inspections teams to ensure our products processes are optimised to drive continuous improvement and built-in quality for our customers.
Manage the budget and resources of the Manufacturing Engineering department to ensure funds and resources are applied to fulfil the strategic goals of the company.
Define capacity and resource requirements, including the recruitment, mentoring and development to team members.
Support a culture of continuous improvement across the end-to-end supply chain including improvements to customer experience.
Lead and support key productivity projects and Strategic projects with a focus on "Step Change".
Support Production, attend Tier Meetings, Communicate, and address Escalations in a timely manner.
Oversight and ownership for Non-Standard Orders (NSO) including Large Key Strategic Orders through RASP process.
What you bring to Sulzer:
Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent required. Higher education such master’s or MBA an advantage
5+ years in Manufacturing Eng / Operations roles with demonstrated progression of responsibility
Proficient in Microsoft Office package
Knowledge of SAP ERP System is an advantage
New Product Introduction Experience
Understanding and ability to conduct Value Stream Mapping and apply Value Stream Thinking
Waste Identification and Reduction - knowledge of the latest Lean / 6-Sigma / Continuous Improvement tools and applications
Knowledge of workplace Digitisation
Knowledge of Industrial Engineering and Automation
Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems
Financial acumen for justification / business case payback on projects
Project Management experience (A3)
