Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.As a Machine Shop Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for machined part process definition and work order planning surrounding Project Kuiper's machining facilities. You will work closely with multiple engineering teams on both early hardware development and setting the stage for later production hardware manufacturing processes. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while showing the highest standards of execution.Key job responsibilities- Define and maintain shop work order processes in Manufacturing Execution and ERP software.- Interrogate CAD models and 2D technical drawings for manufacturing dimensions and requirements.- Use CAD software to define and communicate manufacturing and process requirements.- Interface with purchasing group and NC programming group to prioritize, forecast and report load for the machine shop.- Ensure all manufacturing steps are defined and planned for in ME software in order to furnish complete aerospace detail parts.- Define and author process steps for manufacturing tight tolerance, metallic aerospace parts.- Communicate with outside vendors and purchasing group to ensure compliance with manufacturing and scheduling requirements.- Define and execute tooling solutions for CNC machine work-holding fixtures.Export Control Requirement:Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.About the teamKuiper's Manufacturing Team is responsible for the manufacture, assembly, integration, and test of satellite hardware and the associated equipment and facility definition required to achieve production rates. We have broad ownership of hardware lifetimes, spanning cradle (procurement) to grave (launch).We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Redmond, WA, USA- BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent- 5+ years working in aerospace or aviation metallic manufacturing processes- Understanding of CNC machining and CMM inspection processes- Experience working in SAP ME/ERP or equivalent software- Experience working in AS9100 compliant QMS systems- Understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2009)- CAD experience, (NX/Catia/Autocad)- Experience in tool/fixture design- Strong organizational skills- Demonstrated analytical, written and verbal communication skills- Proficiency in MS Office suite of toolsOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $93,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
