  Product Engineer

  Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan

  6 month contract-to-hire, possible immediate direct hire for the right candidate

  Job Description: Our client, a prominent automotive technology company headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is in search of a highly talented and creative Product Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Product Engineer at our client, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and enhancement of state-of-the-art automotive products, with a specific focus on interior components. Your expertise in automotive product development, proficiency in CAD software (NX or Catia), strong analytical skills, and program launch experience will be invaluable in steering the success of our projects.

  Responsibilities:

  Product Development: Lead the design and development of automotive interior components, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements. Leverage your minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive product development to deliver high-quality solutions.

  CAD Design: Utilize your expertise in NX or Catia to create detailed and precise designs for interior components, employing strong GD&T knowledge to ensure accuracy and functionality.

  Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing experts, fostering a cooperative environment to achieve project objectives. Your experience in program launch will be vital in coordinating successful product launches.

  Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the creation of prototypes, conduct rigorous testing, and analyze results to refine designs, ensuring the reliability and functionality of interior components.

  Quality Assurance: Implement quality control processes, conduct thorough inspections, and collaborate with quality assurance teams to maintain the highest product standards. Utilize your experience with DFMEA and DVP to ensure product reliability and safety.

  Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including engineering specifications, test procedures, and reports. Your expertise in Bill of Materials (BOM) construction will be vital in maintaining accurate records of the product development process.

  Problem Solving: Identify technical challenges and proactively develop solutions, employing strong analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome obstacles.

  Qualifications: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Automotive Product Development, specifically in interior components. • Proficiency in CAD software, with strong capabilities in NX or Catia. • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint abilities for data analysis and effective communication. • Program launch experience, with a proven track record of successful product launches. • Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and DVP (Design Verification Plan) processes. • Expertise in Bill of Materials (BOM) construction and management. • Good GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) knowledge for precise design implementation. • Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
