Salary Range up to $60,000 annually
DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY:The Manager of Youth Employment is responsible for managing the Youth Jobs SB program within VPA, including developing basic structure and curriculum, identifying partners, and initiating scalable solutions for future years. This program and curriculum would be available to all city departments and possibly extended to external partner businesses that employ youth. This position would work alongside the cross-divisional Venues Parks and Arts Leadership team.

Generate work-based learning programs with complete pre- and post-assessments to measure impact so all South Bends youth can reach their full potential.Collect and disseminate information on summer and year-round Work-Based Learning programs to employers, parents, teachers, students, and staff, focusing on active recruitment of at-risk youth.Create a comprehensive program curriculum that includes:Building professional networksExploring career opportunitiesCivics Education and EngagementEncourage reading and increase library awarenessDeveloping essential job and leadership skillsDiversity and inclusion training o Civility and discourse in the workplaceJob essentials (dress, timeliness, handshakes, correspondence, etc.)Technology ResourcesCommunity serviceFinancial literacyResume writingConnect youth to mentorship opportunities and increase participation in volunteer programs Utilize an outcomes-driven approach to program and policy developmentDevelop a list of business partners willing to employ successful SBYEP youth to pipeline jobs. Actively refer youth to these jobs.Collaborate with community stakeholders to increase public safety officials with young people through programs focused on developing life skills to build a strong foundation of trust in our community Facilitate cross-sector collective impact approaches to violence prevention and interventionOffer many opportunities for our youth to become engaged in a variety of ways meaningful to outcomes that affect each citizen by continuing to create and improve methods for simple and effective involvementChampion a safe and positive work environment based on team principlesDevelop and provide leadership training.NON-ESSENTIAL / MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:Assume additional responsibilities as requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent education required.Bachelors Degree in Social Services, Business, or related field preferred (experience in a position with similar duties and responsibilities may be substituted for all or part of the education requirement).At least five years of supervisory experience along with program development experience, ideally in workforce development, youth programming, or a similar field required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of progra management and development procedures.Knowledge of budgeting and reporting.Tech savvy, proficient in MS Office.Ability to work with diverse multi-disciplinary teams.Excellent time-management and organizational skills.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to build excellent personal and organizational relationships.Demonstrated analytical skills, strategic and system thinking.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Valid drivers license, or ability to obtain one, required.
