Position SummaryUHN is looking for a Manager, Techna to join the Techna Technology Development Team and Research and Innovation Cores .
UHN is looking for a dynamic Manager to work in close collaboration with healthcare providers, scientists, research technologists, project managers, business development associates, scientific teams, and industry partners to develop solutions that (a) accelerate early clinical development of breakthrough innovations and (b) enable scientific teams to access equipment and expertise supporting high-quality research.

This is highly collaborative position, wherein the successful candidate is part of multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of projects in healthcare research. The MANAGER, Techna will support (a) the UHN Radiotheranostics Core ; a facility that produces radiopharmaceuticals for research and commercial use, (b) the UHN Research and Innovation Cores ; a centralized business hub focused on providing access to equipment and expertise that enable high-quality research, and (c) the UHN Clinical Accelerator ; which is an emerging initiative to leverage UHN capabilities to expedite the execution of early clinical development of breakthrough innovations.
In each of these teams the MANAGER, Techna will be responsible for managing the full project life cycle, as well as managing advisory and technical committees, while guiding and mentoring the team. Hence, the MANAGER, Techna is expected to bring a unique blend of business operations and technical knowledge, excellent observation and listening skills, and the ability to connect macro level corporate strategies with specific stakeholder needs.
The ideal candidate should have experience as a product or project manager in health sciences and clinical trials. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills and a drive to move innovative healthcare solutions is into the clinic.
This is a hybrid position with flex-hours.
DutiesIndividual responsibilities
Function as project lead on assigned projects. Coordinate people, processes and tools and apply methodologies, practices and approaches throughout the project lifecycle to ensure milestones (quality, budget, and scope) meet pre-established organizational requirements.
Discover, assess and translate operational needs into actionable items aligned with corporate strategies.
Gather, analyze & propose solutions to mitigate risks related to assigned projects.
Leverage strong problem-solving skills - deal with ambiguity, gather information, prioritize, and drive execution on objectives, ensuring they ladder up to key strategies in an iterative and incremental way.
Lead and oversee all aspects of day-today operational and administrative functions of he assigned portfolios
Collaborate with scientific teams and other stakeholders in enabling optimization of clinical care through research specialized support.
Work closely with leadership teams in the development and implementation of operational and strategic initiatives
Report and escalate to management as needed.
Supervise project staff, fostering a positive, collaborative, customer-oriented working environment?
Identify cost reductions opportunities to increase revenue.
Create and maintain project documentation and prepare project outlines, objective, summaries, presentation slides, product demos, charters and other documents throughout the entire project life cycle.
Recognize when a decision is required or a problem exists and follows established decision authority or standard problem-solving procedures.
Team responsibilitiesHelp create a culture of learning and experimentation within the team, effectively gathering feedback and data on project progress
Facilitate discussions and workshops to drive forward the project roadmap.
Participate and contribute on assigned project teams or committees by assisting in the development of guidelines, processes and standards.
Provide assistance and / or training to designated staff members

QualificationsAt minimum, completion of a bachelors degree in Engineering, Health Administration or similar discipline or recognized equivalent required
At minimum, six (6) years of practical and related experience and/or 1.5 years on-the-job training required
At minimum, three (3) years of experience in supervising and mentoring staff, ideally research staff or engineers
Five (5) years’ experience within the healthcare community in a project management or health system planning, and/or a similar role
At minimum, two (2) years of experience as a Project Manager with technically complex needs
A proven track record in bringing clarity to a complex domain and drive agreement between technical and clinical teams, and the business
Successfully taken new projects from conception, through launch to adoption, engagement, and retention
A technically curious approach to project management; systematically self-educating on our products/technology and relevant literature on relevant technologies
Strong communication skills and ability to influence others.
Experience influencing cross-functional teams to achieve outcomes over outputs
Experience working directly with highly technical stakeholders
Experience with Radiopharmaceutical development, clinical trials and health data, desirable
B2B experience in the health care sector, desirable
Good judgment and political acuity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Advanced analytical skills.
Budget proficiency.
