About Manager, Software Development Engineer in Test (Voyager Health Care)

  The SDET Manager will play a key role in Product Delivery for the Voyager Health platform, which is bespoke development of a Practice Management System within MARS Veterinary Health. This role will lead and manage the performance of the SDET team, provide release coordination and support production issues. The SDET Manager will help implement and manage various automated and manual regression testing suites. In this role, the SDET Manager will work closely with functional QA, UAT teams, and business partners to ensure that all facets of automated testing are covered and successful.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Ability to work and deliver assignments in a fast-paced environment.

  Establish and follow a formal test automation methodology and work in the agile development environments.

  Defect documentation and defect tracking that captured during test phase.

  Provide status progress reports toward testing objectives.

  Manage automated and manual regression testing.

  Must be an effective multi-tasker, capable of working on several different applications and wearing several different hats in rapid succession.

  Define process, scenarios, and test plan for test automation scripts .

  Participate in meetings, including status calls and planning sessions representing the QE group.

  Participate in development sprints, if applicable.

  Coordinate approval for TRN, UAT, and PROD deployments, if applicable.

  Responsible for reviewing and managing test automation group's project schedule specifically related to testing activities.

  Responsible for reviewing and contributing to automation test plans and any other test-related documents or other assigned deliverables.

  Report on test automation progress and work with SDPQ for enterprise level reporting.

  Work with and support the Senior Director of Product Quality for acceptance/exit of System Integration Test phase and entrance to UAT/PROD.

  Other work as requested .

  Context & Scope:

  The SDET group manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Program Management Office (PMO), digital Product Managers (PMs) and Product Owners (POs). Must be an effective multi-tasker, capable of working on several different applications and wearing several different hats in rapid succession. Will participate in the creation and management of the SDET group, help hire, train, manage, and oversee the day-to-day work of the group members. The SDET Manager will be responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining test plans, developing, and maintaining digital dashboards, documenting results, analyzing, reporting & tracking software defects in the automation environment(s). Knowledge and experience working with large enterprise healthcare applications (e.g., PMS (Practice Management System), ERP and CRM) is required.

  Must have good excellent organizational skills. Will work closely with developers and thus must be conversant in the vocabulary and conceptual framework of object-oriented programming. Must be very detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills, and able to handle multiple projects/assignments at the same time. Must be a team-player and capable of working independently with little or no supervision at all. There will also be daily interaction with users, vendors, and partners to clarify requirements or to communicate issues.

  Qualifications:

  Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science, master’s degree in computer science preferred.

  Reports directly to the Sr. Director of Product Quality. Must be self-sufficient, capable of managing the entire test automation effort and effectively partition time between several ongoing assignments/projects in various stages of development.

  Knowledge of API testing and API test automation is a necessary skill.

  Knowledge & Experience:

  10 + years of experience in software quality engineering and test automation.

  7 + years of SDET team management, release, and change management experience with deep experience in building out automaton solutions and frameworks.

  Over 5 years of experience testing ERP/CRM platform. application(s).

  Thorough knowledge of the SDLC & STLC, Agile/Scrum development methodology.

  Deep understanding of automation methodology and tooling to establish and follow a formal test automation methodology in the agile development environments.

  Proficient in programming languages such as C#, Python, Java, and JavaScript.

  Develop and own automation architecture and strategy across the QE team and able to manage the automated regression testing along with the testing roadmap in collaboration with QE Managers, and development teams.

  Lead a global team of SDETs in designing, developing, testing, debugging, and deploying automation tools and frameworks.

  Have release and change management experience.

  Hands-on experience of providing test strategy, test plan, test cases for a particular release.

  Ability to generate effective and useful measurements and metrics of the test automation process.

  Strong experience testing APIs, web services integration through SOAP or REST.

  Experience and knowledge of test infrastructure, CI/CD, GitLab, Device Farms, cloud platforms and Kubernetes, Azure DevOps and other similar bug-tracking, project, and test management application.

  Set-up processes and mechanisms (Code reviews, CI/CD, Unit testing, Code coverage etc.) to ensure the team produces high quality code with required documentation.

  Mentor other engineers, provide technical direction and leadership for the team of senior software engineers.

  Establish, conduct, and lead SDET group meetings/calls.

  Experience with Azure DevOps and other similar bug-tracking, project, and test management application.

  Preferred:

  Knowledge of healthcare, insurance, and financial industries, experience working with complex user stories, technical specifications, functional specifications and/or system requirements documents.
