About Manager, Raw Material

  POSITION SUMMARY:

  All brands strategy, product development and innovation are led and driven by certain PVH affiliates in the US with respect to products under the Calvin Klein, and Tommy Hilfiger sold in NA, Asia and SA; and in the Netherlands with respect to products bearing the Tommy Hilfiger Europe, Calvin Klein Europe with respect and sold in the Asia region. The position in this job description helps the above mentioned PVH related parties meet their operating and strategic needs.

  The Denim Raw Material Manager is responsible for managing the overall process of executing new and seasonal fabrics that meet designer's aesthetic vision while balancing quality, cost and speed.

  They will maintain and develop a supply chain that supports the overarching strategic vision.

  Collaborating with mills, US Raw Material team, and Supply Chain Partners. The RM Manager will manage Technicians within region if applicable.

  PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES (Describe the major responsibilities and accountabilities of the position. Clearly and concisely indicate the end result(s) a person in the position is expected to accomplish.)

  Fabric Development and Sourcing:

  Work closely with the NY Denim RM team on all seasonal developments and counters.

  Support the Research of Denim fabrics by working closely with the Global Denim mill base.

  Owns communication with Denim mills and suppliers, Hubs and US Raw Material teams

  Manages new denim developments within the mill matrix strategy & brand aesthetic and sustainability goals.

  Maintain & accurately update the Fabric detail sheets, Scope Certificcates in the centric system as required and completed within specified deadlines.

  Responsible for tracking sample yardage to ensure on-time garment deliveries for proto samples.

  Manages all fabric testing and Risk assessments. And ensures that all fabrics meet the PVH GQM testing requirements and Global regulatory GB testing.

  Collaborate with cross functional teams to resolve business challenges in accordance with the seasonal development calendars, ensuring adherence to cost, speed and quality.

  Visit mills to discuss price, quality and capacity as required for merchant & NY RM & Supply

  Support industry trends through research. Attend global shows as appropriate. Manage process of communicating trend and research. Understand how the trend works and opportunities for marketing claims

  Perform periodic SWOT analysis of mill performance and alignment to sourcing needs. Identify gaps, propose ideas to close gaps and work with mills to elevate

  Partner with mill on solutions to drive to the shortest lead times while balancing cost and qualit

  Guide US team on textile knowledge and mill specific processes and technology

  Analyze 4 lever costing information

  Provide macro trend information available from mill that may impact the negotiation result

  Negotiate price

  Negotiate to eliminate fabric liabilities wherever possible

  Collaborate with across brands to find out the cost leveraging opportunities

  Quality:

  Oversee fabric testing and ensure mills meet the PVH GQM and GB Regulatory testing Requirements. Communicate as needed to QA to ensure final garment quality

  Resolve any fabric related issues on the escalation review

  Utilize technical expertise in collaboration with the mill to meet quality expectations. Proactively resolve quality issues

  Process:

  Execute on strategic initiatives

  Proactively monitor and meet calendar deadlines for approvals and mill execution. Ensure capacity to meet deadlines and manage resources as needed

  Review and manage the process by analyzing metrics to determine effectiveness of current process. Surface ideas for improvement and identify any risks.

  Leadership:

  Provide Inspirational leadership to direct reports

  Work with direct reports to establish their goals

  Mentor and coach direct reports on performance expectations

  Influence peers and seek support from Director if difficulty in influencing upward

  Perform technician roles if no technician within country

  Provide cross functional support as identified by supervisor

  INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS (the type and degree of regular contact the position has with contacts inside the company and outside the organization.)

  Internal Contacts: Design, Product Development, Sourcing, Merchandising,

  External Contacts: Mills, Garment Factories, Trim Suppliers

  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (the number and positions of associates that report directly or indirectly to the position. Describe any on-going functional project management responsibilities. Use N/A if the position has no supervisory responsibilities.)

  Direct: (Senior) Raw Mater technicianBUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES (the scope and approximate value of the position’s budgetary responsibilities, including operating and capital budgets, contracts, inventory, margins etc. Use N/A if the position has no budgetary responsibilities.)

  N/ADECISION MAKING (indicate the nature, degree and scope of direct and indirect decision-making responsibilities.)

  Responsible for day to day governance of all associates in the team

  Education & Experience: (The required degrees, certifications or licenses & the number of years and type of experience required for this position.)

  Degree in Textile or related subject with 8 years or above relevant industry experienceSkills: (The specific skills an individual must possess in order to meet the expectations of the position.)

  Extensive knowledge of Denim raw materials, construction, costing, macro-economic trends, and capacity planning. Knowledge of Chemicals

  Detail oriented and problem solving in approach

  Strong organizational skills. Results & solutions driven

  Ability to synthesize: take complex issues and draw valid actionable fact based conclusions

  Able to drive change, inspire, coach, mentor and develop a high performing team

  Able to establish and maintain strong working relationships cross-functionally and cross-divisionally, as well as externally

  Computer literate. Knowledge of Web PLM preferred

  Good command of both spoken and written English
