Position Title:
Building Maintenance Mechanic
Qualifications:
Mechanical aptitude; understanding job orders: three years experiencewith building
maintenance desired; able to work with minimal supervision and aflexible schedule.

No staff supervision required
Position Goals/Purpose: To maintain all district buildings,Equipment, and grounds in a safe, clean,
efficient, and healthy manner. Recognizes that the quality of themaintenance program is the first measure the public applies to theschool. Provide security during evening hours while school is insession.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. First and Foremost, Safety comes first no matter the task.
2. Participates in OSHA and First Aid yearly training.
3. Participates in all approved training programs.
4. Regularly checks for maintenance requests (daily or at the end of anassigned job order).
5. Carries out maintenance functions according to job orders but notlimited to:
a. Carpentry, roof repair, window repair, and other similarconstruction functions. Performs
carpentry on furniture, fixtures, doors, existing structures, and newconstruction.
b. Painting and other decorative functions. Performs painting andrelated work in a manner that will result in the attractive appearanceof the school buildings.
c. Electrical. Reports all building electrical deficiencies to theDistrict Electrician as soon as detected.
d. Mechanical. Operates various pieces of machinery to repair damagedparts or construct new parts for existing machinery or Equipment.Operates maintains, and repairs the heaters, air conditioners, and airhandling units to provide desired comfort throughout the buildings.
e. Plumbing. Performs preventive and emergency maintenance and repairson the school plumbing, steam piping, and heating systems.
f. Performs locker repairs as required.
g. Helps load and un-load all incoming and outgoing Shipping andReceiving of Facilitates, Custodial, and School Materials/Equipment.
h. Participates in weekly Facilities Staff meetings.
6. Participates in the maintenance program for snow removal and trashremoval.
7. Serves as a substitute on regular custodian shifts, as assigned bySupervisor.
8. Participates in preventive maintenance while performing inspectionsto determine other unidentified
maintenance needs, as well as energy-saving measures.
9. Maintains necessary records to ensure proper maintenance, equipmentreplacement, etc.
10. Maintains daily log of security rounds during shift and notifiesPolice Dept. if needed.
11. Completes required forms for obtaining and using materials,supplies, Equipment, and inventory items.
12. Participates in building security activities.
13. Cooperates with outside contractors, including working irregularand flexible hours, if necessary.
14. The day shift may have some evening requirements.
15. Subject to call in for emergencies, fire, and burglar alarms.
16. Performs other tasks as directed by the Supervisor.
