Job Description:The LPN, under the direction of a registered nurse,licensed physician, or other specified health care professional,participates in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice.

　　Scope

　　1.Performs basic nursing care to patients by following established standardsandprocedures.2. May perform specific nursing care as it relates to specialty of thepractice.3. Collects patient data such as vital signs; notes how the patient looksand acts, or responds to stimuli, and reports this information accordingly.4. Prepares and administers injections, performs routine tests, treatswounds, and changes bandages.5. Prepares patient records and files using established medical recordforms/automated systems and documentation practices.6. Administers medications within scope of license, and monitors anddocuments treatment progress and patient response.7. Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based onpractice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws andregulations.8. Monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.9. Conveys information to patients and families about health status, healthmaintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.10. Participates in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.11. Administers medications, IV therapy, blood draws and laboratorytesting and resulting.12. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides byservice behavior standards.13. Performs other duties as assigned.

　　RequiredGraduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program requiredCurrent/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from thestate licensing boardis required Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced CareLife Support (ACLS) is required If applicable - Must have additionalspecialty certifications May need IV certification

Will also bend toretrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
