　　We currently have an exciting part time career opportunity available to join the HKS team as a Low Vision Specialist at our Brooklyn Location.

　　SUMMARY:

　　Responsible for the execution of HKSB’s Mission, goals, and objectives to provide outpatient care to clients with eye-related disorders and conditions. This entails direct patient care, evaluations, consultations, diagnosis, and treatment. Must demonstrate a high professional standard at all times.

　　ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

　　Provide outpatient care to patients with eye-related disorders and conditions.

　　Conduct routine eye examinations.

　　Determine each patient’s visual acuity, field of vision, and hand-eye coordination.

　　Provide treatment including low vision rehabilitation.

　　Take detailed medical histories for all patients, including current and past prescription medication.

　　Evaluate eye-related symptoms, such as discharge, redness, and inflammation.

　　Prescribe corrective lenses when required.

　　Make referrals to board-certified ophthalmologists when required for more holistic eye care.

　　Educate patients on proper eye care.

　　EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

　　Required a Doctor of Optometry (O.D) degree.

　　NYS License/Registered Optometrist to practice

　　State Certified and Registered to practice Optometry.
