  The Logistics & Distribution Leader provides direct front-line leadership to Parker Lord team members assigned to the shipping and receiving departments at the Indianapolis facility. Implements the Parker Lean system and Win Strategy to ensure a safe work environment, maximizes profitable growth, drives quality improvements, provides premier customer service, develops a technically qualified work force, reduces operating costs, inventories, and lead times through continuous improvements. Provides leadership, performance feedback, coaching and training in support of all warehouse, shipping and receiving functions. Acts as a subject matter expert on managing the locations and packaging within the context of distribution and warehousing. Oversees day-to-day activities to meet daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly expectations.

  · Promote a safety-first workplace, encouraging the identification of opportunities for improvement related to process and/or equipment

  · The development and execution of the shipping schedule which balances customer demand, labor capacity, warehouse, and freight capacity

  · Schedule carriers and daily interface with Parker Lord Customer Service and Logistics to maintain acceptable customer service levels

  · Responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of all materials documentation, storage locations, expired shelf-life products and inventory reconciliation as needed.

  · Maintain regular contact with Materials, Production, Product Quality and Maintenance to ensure material is available for on-time shipment

  · Act as a backup for the Shipping Coordinator role

  · Support various government inspections that verify packaging, markings and quality standards comply

  · Train and onboard new team members; including the development and maintenance of training protocol

  · Recurrent, re-training, and cross-training of existing team members

  · Performance counseling and performance management in alignment with Parker Lord performance principles

  · The development and execution of standard work practices which serve to uphold or improve safety, quality, and delivery performance

  Accountable for driving Lean Initiatives (5S, Team Improvement Boards, Standard Work, etc.) throughout the operation to ensure they are fully embraced and implemented

  · Perform root cause analysis and take appropriate corrective actions; perform PDCA process

  · Investigating incidents of damage in transit or quantity/quality customer complaints

  · Make recommendations related to packaging improvements for root cause/corrective action and cost avoidance

  · Work with the offsite warehouse to ensure inventory balances are correct at both locations

  · Prepare the weekly offsite warehouse load schedule

  · Create, maintain, and communicate daily sales and other critical KPI reports

  · All other duties as assigned

  Required

  · Bachelor’s degree in a related field/discipline or 5 years of experience and active pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree

  · 4 years’ experience in materials, transportation, logistics or distribution services

  · Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience

  · Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing, distribution or warehousing in a related industry.

  · Ability to effectively lead in a fast paced, dynamic and often challenging environment

  · Ability to work effectively in a team environment with management and coworkers

  · Strong customer focus and organizational skills

  · Ability to handle multiple projects and divergent pressures with aggressive deadlines daily

  · Ability to obtain IATA and US DOT compliance related certifications, including Dangerous Goods certification within 6 months in the role

  · Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SAP or equivalent ERP platform

  · Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  · Ability to complete the job following all policies or procedures regarding safety, waste handling, and environmental regulations without direct threat or significant risk to health, safety, or environment

  Preferred

  · 5 years direct leadership experience (supervisory or other)

  · 5 years’ experience in materials, transportation, logistics or distribution services

  · General knowledge and understanding of hazardous materials transportation safety and compliance

  · Experience with Dangerous Goods Transportation compliance rules, provisions, and training protocol
