DescriptionResponsible for organizing an outbound train plan that meets client deadlines while maximizing the amount of shipped containers for each train. The role requires the individual to understand complex intermodal industry regulatory guidelines on freight loading, and follow the regulatory guidelines while assigning containers to trains.The scope of the Load Planner includes the following procedures and tasks:Manage outbound trains, ensuring that yard personnel load and release trains on scheduleModify existing train plans, adding rail cars as needed to meet shipping requirementsAssign available units to departing trainsManage holds and exceptions on individual unitsConfirm Hub Manager receives correct train informationUse the Terminal Operating System (TOS) and other support systems to locate train information for REMPREX TechniciansLog train release information in client reportsComplete client reports for train releases Compile and store Train Close-Out packets that contains all train information for each released trainTransfer scheduled outbound plan and train status information to the incoming Load Coordinator at the end of your shiftMentor new personnel in Load Planning proceduresWork with the Analyst to maintain a current inventory of units inside the facilityQualifications:Required:High School Diploma or equivalentPrevious related work experienceStrong ability to analyze and solve problems on an immediate basis, and to develop and implement procedural changes without supervisionStrong interpersonal skills to support work as a teamExcellent time management skillsStrong written and oral communication skills to train subordinates, peers, and senior level managers effectivelySkills to adapt to rapidly changing customer requests and requirements, seasonal variances in workload, and industry needs and requirementsProficient in Microsoft Word and ExcelAbility to pass and maintain compliance (eRAILSAFE) training/certification and REMPREX and Client Safety Rules & RegulationsPreferred:4+ years work experiencePrevious experience in Transportation industryPrevious Intermodal experienceHoursThis role is a full-time position with non-standard work hours, including overnight and weekends. The Load Coordinator works 12-hour shifts as scheduled, typically working three or four consecutive shifts per week.Work EnvironmentThe Load Coordinator role works in an office environment. The position can require long periods of sitting and viewing computer screens. Occasional bending, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying can occur. Additionally, the role requires the individual to work on-site at an intermodal facility.
