Overview
i3 is seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real-world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team. The candidate for theSenior-Level Linux Administratorposition will be responsible for ensuring and maintaining the appropriate operational security posture for accredited information systems with various Linux operating systems in different operating environments and configurations. The candidate will be responsible for working closely with end-users to properly manage and monitor the systems for very specific simulation functionality needed.
Responsibilities
Be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including virtual, cloud, as well as web servers, in support of business processing requirements.
Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
Monitor and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
Develop and promotes standard operating procedures.
Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Develop and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
Be responsible for client's E-Root architecture and configuration.
Serve as alternate/secondary DDI Service Architect responsible for the configuration and maintenance of client's DNS, DHCP and IPAM (DDI) enterprise application and services.
Ensure the day-to-day operation and ongoing support of Servers and Systems including even, fault, and performance management.
Develop solutions to monitor, notify, and correct anomalies/alarms.
Evaluate the current e-root architecture. Design the environment and software layers to provide for a reliable, scalable, secure and highly available Linux environment.
Find gaps in the Linux environment and use analytical skills and knowledge of problem-solving methodologies to provide solutions.
Lead efforts and work closely with systems administrators, database and application administrators/programmers, network engineers/analysts and outside vendors in engineering solutions or resolving problems.
Act as a lead consulting and training resource for e-root architectural environment.
Provide guidance to systems administrators, network engineers/analysts on the configuration of server hardware and architectures to meet application and service requirements.
Lead IR&D efforts to identify new solutions, communicating solutions and progress with Senior and Program Management.
Work closely with vendors or other groups within the organization to correct problems or perform root cause analysis.
Analyze and make formal recommendations on optimization and capacity planning for systems.
Design, develop, and maintain process automation scripts and utilities written in BASH/Python and other programing languages as required.
Develop and maintain documentation related to the design, installation, administration, and maintenance of multiple Linux systems in a distributed computing environment.
Ensure stability, viability and maintenance of the 24/7 mission-critical production environment.
Prepare weekly reports on significant events.
Write test plans and conduct product evaluations in a lab environment.
Be available to support and participate after hours critical incident management events as required.
Design and maintain a repeatable, documented patch deployment methodology for system administrators to implement. Diagnosis complex performance issues and facilitate recovery of failed systems in accordance with customer Service Level Agreements.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelors in a related field, or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 5-7 years of experience with installing, securing, and maintaining Linux operating systems. Additional experience may substitute for degree.
Experience with system virtualization will be a plus.
Write and evolve configuration management content via Ansible playbooks.
Linux OS Certification is a plus.
Must have DoD 8570 IA Certification (Security+ CE).
Ability to work with little or no direct supervision and in a team environment.
Demonstrated multi-tasking skills.
Must have experience with UNIX server administration including RedHat LINUX platform, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and high availability.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Currently have active SECRET clearance.
