POSITION SUMMARY:
The Line Locator is responsible for identifying, mapping out, locating,and marking underground facilities using sophisticated mapping programs,electronic detection equipment, and utility maps in communication withcontractors. In addition, they will coordinate and provide assistance inassessing locations for a need to repair, modify, and expand complyingwith industry standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Locates and marks underground distribution system for contractorsand others performing excavation work using appropriate locatingequipment.Perform locates and mark facilities, using mechanical locate devicesor drawings.
Drives vehicle to excavation sites and is responsible for relatedsafety equipment and supplies utilized in work activity.
Work with outside and internal contractors and internal personnel toreduce facility damage.Develop relationships and educate 3^rd^ party contractors on safedigging practices.
Informs supervisor of construction projects in district of damageand/or potential danger to the distribution system
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or GEDA minimum of three years experience in field operations.Valid Drivers LicenseMust be able to work safely outdoors with exposure to all weatherconditionsPreferred:
Gas distribution system experienceSafe and accurate operation of tools and equipmentAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, field sketchesand mapsKnowledge of construction practicesAble to use personal computer software proficiently, such as Word,Excel and/or electronic mail*KNO\\*
