  We provide Scientific, Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, VA. For sixty years, DARPA has held to a singular and enduring mission: to make pivotal investments in breakthrough technologies for national security.

  The successful candidate will support the DARPA program manager by supporting or leading all activities in project management, technical and programmatic risk analysis, and program-funded test coordination. The candidate will also be responsible for coordinating meetings, assessing performer technical progress, projecting performer outcomes, and ensuring that project management best practices are followed by performers, independent verification and validation (IV&V) entities funded by DARPA, and within DARPA itself.

  The Ideal candidate should possess technical research, development and engineering experience across a breadth of DoD projects. Relevant skills include lidar system design and lidar signal processing. Experience in space and airborne sensor engineering is highly desired. Exemplary candidates will also have demonstrated an ability to learn new subjects and gain rapid insights into current and next generation research topics, preferably with hands-on leadership of research programs at the performer level.

  Responsibilities:

  Lead periodic (monthly or bi-weekly) performer assessments to analyze program, technical and schedule risks; develop risk mitigation strategies; communicate findings to program manager

  Evaluate and guide technical reports, briefings, and other performer communications

  Engage stakeholders and collaborators across the various DoD agencies and services

  Shape and oversee early operational analysis

  Administer programs, including development of technical analyses, identification of technology gaps, technical risk management, project cost estimation, technology transfer efforts, as well as supporting technical reviews

  Prepare DARPA work products including presentations and reports

  Attend and organize program reviews/site visits/field tests

  Support further research solicitation development and source selection activities associated with lidar systems and signal processing

  Minimum Qualifications:

  At least 5 years of experience with lidar systems and lidar signal processing

  A background in physics, electrical engineering or computer science

  Level of effort will be up to 100% and on-site required

  Clearance Requirements:

  Current DoD TS/SCI Clearance requiredDesired capabilities and characteristics:

  Prior experience working programs at DARPA as a technical and program management support contractor

  Knowledge of DARPA processes and procedures

  Demonstrated program management expertise, with over 10 years following program management best practices in a research environment, preferably as a project lead

  Expertise and strong interest in the above technical areas

  Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar areas needed to broadly support program goals

  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project

  Experience developing and testing survivability technology.

  Demonstrated attention to detail

  Excellent communication skills - both written (to include PowerPoint) and oral

  Self-starter who is willing to both take the lead and provide support in a team role in a complex, fast-paced, cross-disciplinary work environment

  Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task and respond to quick turn-around requests

  Flexible and readily adaptable to change

  Physical Requirements:

  The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office

  The person in this position will need to be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer
