Job Description:The LPN, under the direction of a registered nurse,licensed physician, or other specified health care professional,participates in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice.
Scope
1.Performs basic nursing care to patients by following established standardsandprocedures.2. May perform specific nursing care as it relates to specialty of thepractice.3. Collects patient data such as vital signs; notes how the patient looksand acts, or responds to stimuli, and reports this information accordingly.4. Prepares and administers injections, performs routine tests, treatswounds, and changes bandages.5. Prepares patient records and files using established medical recordforms/automated systems and documentation practices.6. Administers medications within scope of license, and monitors anddocuments treatment progress and patient response.7. Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based onpractice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws andregulations.8. Monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.9. Conveys information to patients and families about health status, healthmaintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.10. Participates in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.11. Administers medications, IV therapy, blood draws and laboratorytesting and resulting.12. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides byservice behavior standards.13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
RequiredGraduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program requiredCurrent/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from thestate licensing board is requiredBasic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) isrequired If applicableMust have additional specialty certifications May need IV certification
Preferred
One (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing settingpreferred One (1) year Specialty clinic experience preferred

Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assesspatient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitorsthat require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understandspoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately,particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicateequipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use andtyping for documenting patient care, accessing needed information,medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Willalso bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typicallyincludes items of varyi g weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtainingand distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pullinggurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required tonavigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on thefloor, eMay be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period oftime.
