Registered Nurse Salary Range: $32.92 - $48.78/hour PLUS $1.75/hour shift differential for all hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

The new Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH)-Montevideo is seeking an intermittent nurse to join our team. This vacancy is being announced as either a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN). Only one position will be filled based on the selected finalist‘s qualifications.
An intermittent employee works an irregular and uncertain schedule, based on the needs of the home. Intermittent employees must be available to work all shifts and some weekends. Shifts are: Day shift 6:00am-2:30pm, Evening shift 2:00pm-10:30pm, and Night shift 10pm-630am. Current State of Minnesota employees will not be considered for concurrent appointments at this time due to overtime considerations and the irregular work schedule requirements of this position.
As a LPN or RN at the MVH-Montevideo, you will deliver nursing care within the LPN or RN scope of practice, as defined by the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act, for cognitively and physically disabled residents. Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to promote the well-being, health, and safety of residents in a person-centered, long-term care environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed Practical Nurse
To qualify for LPN, applicants must have the following:
Licensed in Minnesota as a Practical Nurse with no restrictions
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions, and take clear notes
Registered Nurse
To qualify for RN, applicants must have the following:
Current Minnesota Registered Nurse license with no restrictions
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective nursing care for residents
Skills in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships
Effective communication skills sufficient to provide and follow instructions
Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email
Ability to make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities
Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, make or recommend changes, and provide mentoring
Ability to teach self-help skills to residents
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a long-term care or skilled nursing environment
Experience working with Veterans
Geriatric care experience
Experience with minimum data set (MDS) assessments
Additional Requirements
A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
