JOB REQUIREMENTS: Duties Independence Hall (9CS) is a 22-bed unit, with16 beds being occupied with Long Term Care Veteran and 6 beds beingoccupied with Transitional Care Veterans. Serving a very diversepopulation, 9CS residents are challenged with varied and complex medicalissues including but not limited to: MS, spinal cord injury,Huntington\'s disease, ALS as well as cardiac problems, diabetes, andheart failure. Many of the residents have mental health issues,including PTSD, anxiety, dementia, and other behavioral problems. Theunit staff works closely with all members of the interdisciplinary teamto provide the Veterans with optimal care. This is the Veterans home andthe care delivered is resident centered and honors individual needs andpreferences. The Veterans are actively involved in many activities andstaff enjoy the long term relations with the Veterans as they worktogether to plan their care. Major Duties: Communicates and interactsappropriately and courteously with internal and external customers.Maintains confidentiality of patient/employee informationelectronically, verbally, and written. Works and functions within a safemanner including infection control and operation of equipment.Integrates and applies pertinent aspects of the Medical Centerperformance improvement program into his/her professional practice.Utilizes nursing research, evidence based practice and literature indaily practice. Provides care appropriate to the bio-psychosocial needsof the population served. Provides culturally competent care to adiverse patient population.
