  Job Description:The LPN, under the direction of a registered nurse,licensed physician, or other specified health care professional,participates in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice.

  Scope

  1.Performs basic nursing care to patients by following established standardsandprocedures.2. May perform specific nursing care as it relates to specialty of thepractice.3. Collects patient data such as vital signs; notes how the patient looksand acts, or responds to stimuli, and reports this information accordingly.4. Prepares and administers injections, performs routine tests, treatswounds, and changes bandages.5. Prepares patient records and files using established medical recordforms/automated systems and documentation practices.6. Administers medications within scope of license, and monitors anddocuments treatment progress and patient response.7. Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based onpractice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws andregulations.8. Monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.9. Conveys information to patients and families about health status, healthmaintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.10. Participates in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.11. Administers medications, IV therapy, blood draws and laboratorytesting and resulting.12. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides byservice behavior standards.13. Performs other duties as assigned.

  Minimum Qualifications

  RequiredGraduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program requiredCurrent/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from thestate licensing boardis required Basic Life Support (BLS) or AdvancedCare Life Support (ACLS) is required If applicable - Must have additionalspecialty certifications May need IV certification

  Preferred

  One (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing settingpreferred One (1) year Specialty clinic experience preferred

Knowledge of basic nursing processes, and understanding of health caretechnology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursingcare, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.3. Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.4. Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to takeappropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.5. Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients.6. Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.

  Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and readinformation, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identifyequipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient careproviders, patients, and visitors that require employee to verballycommunicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms,needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergencysituations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complexand delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequentcomputer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing neededinformation, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift andutilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend toretrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes temsof varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk andassist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributingsupplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portableequipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded andbusy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and-May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period ofti
