Description
Robert Half is assisting a boutique law firm local to Oakland, California in their search for a legal assistant. This role is a key part of the growing team, focusing on providing administrative support, drafting and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research, and managing schedules and deadlines. This is a 5- day on site position that is contract-to-hire.
Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure office efficiency
• Handle all forms of communication with clients and witnesses
• Draft, review, and process legal documents including pleadings, appeals, contracts, and agreements
• Conduct detailed legal research and gather evidence for trial preparation
• Implement and maintain both paper and electronic filing systems for documents
• Manage confidential information and correspondence securely
• Oversee schedules, court dates, and deadlines, ensuring all are met in a timely manner
• Handle billing procedures and record all billable hours accurately
• Compile and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
• Coordinate law office activities such as client interviews, court scheduling, and workflow management
• Use skills such as Calendar Management, e-Filing, Draft Pleadings, and Document Formatting effectively in daily tasks
Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a related role
• Proficiency in Calendar Management, ensuring all appointments and meetings are scheduled accurately
• Experience with e-Filing systems, ensuring all documents are filed electronically in a timely and organized manner
• Ability to Draft Pleadings, with a strong attention to detail and understanding of the legal language
• Experience in Document Formatting, ensuring all documents adhere to the required standards and formats
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to keep information confidential and maintain a high degree of professionalism
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• Bachelor's degree in Law or related field is preferred.
