Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Location: Chicago, IL
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal for our fast-paced law firm client in Chicago. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting attorneys in all aspects of litigation management. This includes facilitating and tracking discovery, coordinating with opposing parties, managing trial preparations, and maintaining overall case organization.
Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys in all stages of litigation cases, from initiation to resolution.
Draft legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, trial preparations and case summaries.
Conduct extensive legal research and fact-checking while coordinating with the team.
Manage legal documentation and correspondence in strict confidentiality, maintaining an organized, electronic filing system.
Collate appeal packets and trial binders; arrange for transport of evidence and documents to court when needed.
Complete case-related tasks, such as calendar hearing dates, deadlines, and reminders.
Coordinate and schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and other court-related activities.
Assist in welcoming clients, answering queries, and keeping them informed about case progress.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Paralegal certificate or an associate's degree in paralegal studies required. A bachelor's degree would be a plus.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Paralegal in the litigation field.
Familiarity with the federal and state court system in Chicago is a must.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise with various parties professionally.
Proven experience with legal research tools and software such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
Exceptionally organized with the ability to manage multiple timelines and deadlines efficiently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Strong ethical standards and dedication to client confidentiality.
