Department of Health and Exercise Science
The Department of Health and Exercise Science provides a rigorous and enlightening intellectual environment for the professional development, achievement, and distinction of leaders in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Public Health and Wellness, Wellness Management, and Nutrition & Dietetics. The Department has earned national accreditation when available for its programs.
Lecturers are 10-months full-time, non-tenure track teaching faculty. Successful candidates will teach a total of 24 credits over two semesters, with an option to teach overload and summer classes for additional compensation. Lecturer positions are renewable, with expectations for continuing renewal of two, three, four, and then five years per contract.
We are seeking to hire a qualified individual to teach courses within its Exercise Science program. The successful candidate will teach a variety of exercise science courses at the undergraduate level and help support the process of continuing accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. The successful candidate will also advise the Exercise is Medicine club and engage in other service activities for the Department, School, University and the wider community.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education in Exercise Science or a related field.
Evidence of excellence in teaching and prior teaching experience at the university level is desired.
Exercise Science certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and other professional organizations is preferred.
Successful candidates will have the ability to teach undergraduate courses in exercise science.
Successful candidate will be required to make meaningful and substantive service contributions to undergraduate programs, and to the Department, School and University.
Successful candidates will also be expected to participate in professional development to stay current in their content area and in evidence-based instructional approaches.
