PURPOSE:
The Dynatrace Application Performance Monitoring Engineer is part of a team helping CareFirst develop automatic and intelligent observability across our cloud and hybrid environments. Creating and enhancing our customer experience with application monitoring, by being able to identify and resolve issues in real-time before they become impactful. Develop a system that monitors CareFirsts infrastructure and applications that detects anomalies and delivers precise answers prioritized by business impact.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Employ Dynatrace expertise developing performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards, and data trend analysis in a monitoring tool for infrastructure and application performance monitoring.
Assist in the build-out the Technical Operations Center event management and systems monitoring capability leveraging Dynatrace infrastructure and application performance monitoring.
Develop the capability in Splunk for the collection and analysis of logs, metrics, and traces from a wide range of applications, networks, systems, and other sources.
Develop and maintain Dynatrace end-to-end performance monitoring for applications, workloads and environments.
Enable event management and analytics to address the triage and resolution of events.
Develop and operate the infrastructure, processes, and automation that enables observability of critical assets across the organization in alignment with business priorities.
Analyze performance data and act on negative performance trends to identify root cause.
Gather application data and diagrams, leverage expertise in recommending baseline monitoring thresholds, recommend performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs, and provide monitoring tool infrastructure recommendations.
Integrate multiple system alerts providing one single pane of glass monitoring solution.
Use your customer service expertise to help manage tasks and organize large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an enterprise monitoring solution.
Installs, tunes, upgrades, troubleshoots, and maintains the Dynatrace Platform.
Develop and implement techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshoots incidents to recover services, and support the root cause analysis.
Evaluates new systems by performing in-depth tests, including end-user reviews. Researches software and related products to support recommendations and purchasing. Determines systems integration issues by evaluating components; developing and completing performance tests; analyzing test data; studying project requirements; analyzing user and potential user input; evaluating similar and related products and systems. Develop system automation and system integration of business processes.
Improves engineering job knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
Acts as a mentor for junior and senior team members.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Leads a team utilizing a matrix management system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science OR in lieu of a bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
ITIL Foundations v3 within 180 Days Preferred.
Experience: 8 years proven success overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems and applications.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
3+ years of experience in Dynatrace, synthetic URL monitoring, installing agents, forwarders, APIs, performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards and data trend analysis in a monitoring tool.
Experience - 3-5 years installing, configuring, and maintaining Splunk log analysis.
Experience with recommending baseline monitoring thresholds, recommending performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs.
Experience with gathering and organizing large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an Enterprise monitoring solution.
Deep knowledge of relevant enterprise log analysis framework.
Experience with cloud monitoring in AWS or Azure.
Familiar with Jira, ServiceNow, or similar tools.
Knowledge of programming languages and web-based technologies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to collaborate to solve technical problems across teams.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
Salary Range: $106,200 - $210,925
