The team you will be a part of
The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.
This role in summary
Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Safety and Regulatory Excellence (SReX) Senior Analyst opening in our Global Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs (GSR) function.
Your responsibilities will include
As a Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance Senior Data Analyst within Whirlpool’s Global Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs (GSR) organization, you will have the opportunity to work with Regional Safety Managers, Product Safety Managers (PM’s), Product Specialists and our internal laboratory personnel to develop data systems, databases and analysis tools used as the foundation of product investigations and used when reporting on issues pertaining to alleged product safety concerns. In this role, your work will contribute to the use and development of existing and new data systems, analytical tools and additionally, evaluate emerging technology to increase the team’s effectiveness and productivity in an ever-changing, dynamic environment. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing a variety of systems which are mainly based around SQL server databases (with a few remaining MS access form based front ends), and to lead in the consolidation and enhancement of these systems and databases to support the future GSR process vision, and to specify, develop and implement the next generation of user interface(s) using suitable contemporary technologies in order to support GSR teams based around the globe.
Minimum requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
5+ years experience with Microsoft SQL server database design, administration, maintenance, tools and services; SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Transact SQL, MLS, Security, Backups, .net programming
5+ years’ experience with Full Stack Web Development using a Microsoft SQL Server Database.
1+ year experience with Microsoft Access databases and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming
Preferred skills and experiences
Maintain and manage existing GSR systems to support effective monitoring of safety issues.
Implement the next generation of GSR systems and databases, consolidating systems and data, incorporating additional relevant data from across the Whirlpool business, and supporting GSR’s ongoing process improvement and evolution.
Develop and maintain cross functional relationships that support Global Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs’ (GSRs’) processes and objectives
Make recommendations and implement improvements to database structure to reflect the real world, making the data more relational, decreasing data duplication and moving towards a single source of the truth.
Ensure Records Retention and Consumer Privacy Policy compliance.
Investigate, scope and implement:
Transition from MS Access form based user interface to an appropriate new technology (example: web-based)
Data Reporting Development
Clarabridge
Internet of Things (IoT) data
Integrate data from various global data sources
Verify that data quality and integrity supports effective and efficient business decisions.
Work with our European team to understand and implement their business needs for data.
Additional information
Preferred Requirements:
Microsoft Office Suite, G-suite and Tableau
Product Safety experience and/or Engineering experience
Continuous Improvement mindset, ability and desire to improve and streamline processes
Project management capabilities to lead data projects with implementation being performed by internal and/or external technology resources
Locate and analyze varied data from multiple sources to enable effective analysis. Familiarity with ETL interfacing with Whirlpool data systems; SAP HANA, Clarabridge, Legal Connect, Windchill, SAS VA, Google APIs
Write MS Access forms, queries, reports, and VBA code modules
Anticipate needs and automate non-value-added processes wherever possible
Planning, organization and communication skills
Prioritize and perform work coming from various sources
Analytical skills, critical thinking and creativity
Thorough and accurate with close attention to detail
People skills with the ability to play lead roles or supporting roles as individual situations dictate
