Reference #: 24000086DescriptionGrade:T25The link below will give you information about the University's "T" salary structure..A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.Summary:The Lead Data Communication Technician (LDCT) is responsible for the installation, maintenance and support of data communications equipment throughout Temple University and Temple University Health System.The LDCT performs troubleshooting of installed data communications and networking equipment and cabling, utilizing various types of test equipment.Works closely with the Network Engineering Group in support of the network infrastructure.Good communications skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a team environment are required.The LDCT must be proficient in set-up and configuration of personal computers and have both a working knowledge of TCP/IP and wireless LAN (WLAN) technologies. Perform other duties as assigned.to learn more about the benefits of working at Temple University.Required Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree and at least one (1) year of experience in the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of Layer 2 Ethernet switches. Demonstrated experience using basic Local Area Network (LAN) Test Equipment, Cable Tester and Hand & Light Power Tools. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Required Skills & Abilities:* Working knowledge of TCP/IP including, IP Addressing, Sub-netting, Virtual LANS (VLANS), Domain Name Service, (DNS) Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).* Demonstrated ability to configure and support Ethernet switches and IP client devices.* Basic understanding of Wireless LAN (WLAN) technologies.* Proficiency in personal computer (PC) set-up and configuration.* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of individuals.* Proficiency with electronic e-mail, word processing and spreadsheet applications.* Valid driver's license.* Ability to participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and regularly work overtime to support network maintenance windows.This position requires a background check.Temple University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all in every aspect of its operations, including employment, service, and educational programs.
