Description:
Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center, Hartford CT Emergency Department
You would be responsible for regular phlebotomy duties, helps oversee the phlebotomy functions in coordination with the ED Manager. Acts as a resource for the staff in the areas of phlebotomy, assists with communication/ relationships with facilities and their staff and provides feedback to the staff as it relates to these areas. Provides training and education to staff and assigns mentors for newly hired staff.

Performs assigned work on time. Completes Stat requests within standard turnaround times, accurately Labeling all specimens following laboratory policies and procedures.
Work Hours/Shift:
• 40 hours, 10-hr shifts (6am-4:30pm), alternating weekends & holiday rotation

Minimum Requirements :
Associate’s degree or equivalent related experience preferred.
Certification from NPA, NCA, or ASCP required or must be obtained within six (6) months in position.
Minimum of five (5) years phlebotomy experience, venipuncture and capillary puncture skills, specimen processing and medical terminology. Requires one (1) + years of previous and progressively more responsible experience in a Lead or supervisory role.
Must have the ability to work well with others in a very busy, close environment as well as independently with minimal supervision; strong phlebotomy skills. Adaptability and flexibility necessary for work schedule and patient care requirements. Good command of the English language and medical terminology.
