  OMB NO: 1625-0120 Expiration Date:01/30/2025Announcement #: 5500Opening Date: 18 January 2024 Pay Plan/Series/Pay Band: NA-7304-02Closing Date: Until Filled Work Schedule: Full Time (30-40 hrs/wk) Position: Laundry Worker-02 Salary: $17.40/hourWho May Apply: All Sources Location: Cape May, NJ ExchangeDUTIES:Opens and/or closes the Laundry, ensures that equipment is turned off and secured at the end of the day; ensures that the recruit bag count is accurate. Performs basic repetitive laundry tasks under the supervision of a higher-level employee. Sorts soiled laundry items by type, color, fabric, etc., in preparation to launder. Pre-treats laundry as necessary to remove imbedded soil or stains. Places soiled laundry into available commercial washers, remove clean laundry from washers, shake out tangles, and places damp laundry into dryers. Removes laundry from dryers, folding rough-dry items (i.e., bedspreads, towels, etc.) and feed items (i.e., tablecloths, napkins, etc.) to be placed into flat work finisher (roller iron). Folds finished items and places items into stacks of prescribed numbers and types. May wrap bundles of laundry using cell-wrap machine. Records quantities of items coming into and being issued out of the laundry on inventory sheets to maintain control of all items. Post-sorts laundry and removes damaged items. Stacks and stores linens on proper shelves. Keeps work areas clean, sanitized and otherwise free of debris and unsafe conditions. Reports all damage or problems with washers and dryers to supervisor. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Must have open availability, including weekends.Performs related duties as requested.You will be evaluated for this position based on how well you meet the qualifications below. Requires constant movement of arms and hands.
