  POSITION SUMMARY:

  Chi-Chack is working with team McKellar to provide an onsite Kazakh Language Instructor, in Washington, D.C. at the Foreign Services Institute. This position is full time on site and requires successful candidates to:

  Be eligible to work in the United States and must have a minimum of the length of assignment plus thirty (30) days remaining in U.S. employment eligibilityUtilize SLSs established training materials, procedures, and methodologyFollow all policies of the Language Section, the Administrative Unit, SLS, FSI, and DOSFollow the guidance provided in the FSI Language and Culture Instructor (LCI) GuideFollow all administrative processes and procedures as detailed in the SLS Guide to FSI Administrative ProceduresWork in a harmonious and professional manner with colleagues who represent different cultures from around the world.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: At the determination of the government customer attend, either virtually or in-person: o pre-semester orientations and mentor meetings (usually bi-weekly). In-service staff development and orientation activities, including delivering presentations or facilitating workshops language section and other meetings as requested by the GTM.

  Obtain necessary computer system application and /or site access, including access to FSIs Learning Management System and Distance Learning Share-Point sites.Mentoring sessions may be conducted outside of normal FSI business hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, to accommodate students in other time zones.Mentors should use established training materials.With guidance from the COR, ACOR, and/or GTM work collaboratively on training, content development, and/or assessment matters with Distance Learning staff and other Mentors.Send group communications to students at the beginning of the course, end of the course, and as needed during the semester/term.Schedule and conduct remote mentoring and make-up sessions with students: o Mentors will schedule weekly 45-minute mentoring sessions (including make-up sessions) with each student and keep the schedules on a restricted calendar that is available to those working with the Distance Learning Program.Conduct weekly 45-minute mentoring sessions with each assigned Distance Learning student.Sessions will primarily be conducted using video conferencing applications such as, but not limited to, Skype, Google Hangouts, Zoom, and Adobe Connect.Sessions may also be conducted via telephone in the event the video conferencing is not a viable option.During the mentoring sessions, Mentors will assess student progress, answer student questions, and provide speaking practice.Sessions may also make use of instant messaging, whiteboard, screen sharing, and file sharing tools that are available in most video conferencing applications.Document student attendance, performance, feedback, assessments, course assignments and objectives: o Mentors will keep detailed notes of each mentoring session and will update individual student records to track their attendance, completion of assignments and course objectives, and provide feedback on their progress.Updates to completion of assignments and course objectives, and feedback on student progress should be logg d in the learning management system on a weekly basis and/or within 48 hours of when each mentoring session takes place.Report to the Distance Learning Staff as soon as possible a students failure to meet course participation requirements and/or a students decision to end their participation in their course.Mentors should make Distance Learning staff aware of unprofessional behavior on the part of a student or any other problems the Mentor experiences with a student.Any notes on the student shall be maintained in secure location agreed to by the Distance Learning staff.All notes must be available to Distance Learning staff, the COR, ACOR, or GTM, the Language Training Supervisors (LTS) and the Training Specialist (TS) upon request.Monitor state.gov email daily and respond to all requests from students and Distance Learning staff promptly.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:

  A minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching adult learners the foreign language they will be providing to FSI in a classroom setting (2 or more students).BA/BS, MA/MS, or Ph.D., or foreign equivalent degree(s) in any field.A minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching foreign language with proficiency-based or task-based curricula.A minimum of one (1) year of experience administering proficiency-based assessments (i.e., serving as an FSI tester or rater, administering DLPT or ACTFL OPI exams, administering proficiency or task-based quizzes or weekly assessments as part of a standard language curriculum).A minimum English proficiency level of a S-2/R-2 on the ILR proficiency scale.Experience in Learning Management, hybridlearning, proficiency based assessments and delivering training targeted to the needs of diplomatic community.Physical and Environmental Requirements:
