Job Information
Job Summary:
Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or worksite. Performs work in accordance with university standards andprocedures.
Responsibilities:
Under direction moves, loads, and unloads items such as rubbish,furniture, and equipment.Under direction maintains the University grounds.Uses mechanized and hand powered equipment in snow removal duties.Applies anti-icing compounds to paved areas.Washes trucks and other transportation equipment.Assists in special events set-ups.Drives all University supplied vehicles.Maintains shop supplied power tools, hand tools, and equipment.Maintains clean shop and work site environment.Helps introduce new employees to shop protocol, procedures andcampus applications and equipment.Requisitions materials and supplies using in-house procedures asneeded. Keeps working area safe and clean.Wears and/or uses appropriate safety equipment.Uses computers to enter and access job related information.Undertakes training related to job duties as deemed necessary by theUniversity.Performs related job duties as may be assigned.Additional Requirements
Education, Experience, or Certifications:
Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.Completion of job-related associate degree (A.A) preferred.Experience:
One-year related experience, or an equivalent combination ofposition-related education and experience required.Completion of job-related apprenticeship program preferred.Advanced job-related training programs preferred.Licenses or Certifications:
Current valid driver\'s license, other licenses or certificatesneeded for this position as required by law.Technical Knowledge or Skills:
Demonstrated ability to access computer programs and use or learnbasic computer operations related to position requirements.Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, bothorally and in writing.Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical functions relevant tothe position.Demonstrated ability to problem solve.Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity and bephysically capable of strenuous activity over extended periods oftime.Must be able to lift and move loads appropriate to job requirementsand be able to bend and work in a kneeling position for periods oftime.Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, be capable of working atheights as required, be able to enter and work within tight spaces,and be able to withstand hot and cold temperatures.Pay Range:
