Amentum is seeking a Laborer to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Laborer reports into the Superintendent and will assist with manual labor and/or janitorial duties on the compound.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of manual labor tasks incidental to trade and craft work to include painter or warehousing activities requiring application of knowledge and experience gained on similar assignments, including custodial services as needed.
Maintains assigned working areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Moves boxes of varied weights, crates, disassembled equipment, parts, or other obstacles to maintain a safe and orderly working area.
Moves, packs, unpacks, sorts, segregates, arranges, stacks, piles, or relocates a large variety of supply items.
Picks up scraps of wood, metal, or other material. Removes scrap and trash cans from area to central pickup point.
Assists with janitorial duties as assigned to include the use of cleaning materials and solutions.
Builds, moves and disassembles depot furniture using proper lifting techniques and lifting devices. Inspects and keeps safety belts in good condition.
May operate garden tractors with attachments under the guidance of a journeyman, leader, or Foreman.
May operate Operates a power lawn mower, jack hammer and power tools.
Effectively troubleshoot, replace, and repair irrigation system and components.
Assists skilled trades or craftsmen by retrieving tools, materials, and equipment.
Cleans tools, equipment, and work areas. Adjusts mechanisms, oils and cleans equipment.
Digs and grade ditches and trenches with pick and shovel. Fills and levels holes in damaged roadways.
Mixes materials and level patch surfaces with tamper. Sets forms, mixes and pour concrete.
Loads and unload trucks, and other conveyances.
Maintain walkways and entrance to buildings to include remove removal of litter, snow, and apply ice melt materials as needed.
Mows and waters lawn within a specified distance of assigned buildings.
Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record. May be required to work overtime.
Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.
Reads and understands Task Hazard Analysis for identifying risks to health and safety during job specific tasks in the workplace.
Removes and properly dispose of oil, hydraulic fluid, and other spilled liquids.
Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license.
Six (6) months of direct grounds or landscaping experience, preferred.
Must have general knowledge of grounds keeping/ landscaping functions.
Must be able to lift, push, pull, stand, and sit for long periods of time.
Must be able to operate designated equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Must be able to perform job assignments in an effective and safe manner with limited supervision from verbal and written instructions.
Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access.
Good writing and verbal communication skills and be able to operate a computerized based terminal.
Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.
Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. Perform safety sensitive duties.
Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by the Master Training Plan.

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.
