GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
Develops, implements, and manages laboratory services for the Treasure Valley Lab. The Treasure Valley Lab is the laboratory outreach for the Saint Alphonsus Health System. The Treasure Valley Lab performs lab services to independent providers, hospitals, healthcare facilities and long-term care organizations throughout the region.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist program required.
Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science preferred. Medical Laboratory Scientist from the ASCP or equivalent certification (i.e. AMT, AAB or NCA) required.
Minimum of five years of experience in laboratory services or related health care field plus 3 years of supervisory experience required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
Facilitates and manages team performance to the established performance levels in a timely manner per medical center guidelines. Plans, prepares, and coordinates work schedules to provide adequate coverage and efficient use of personnel. Plans, prepares and maintains assigned procedure manuals according to regulatory requirements. Ensures that department or shift personnel provide accurate and timely testing results in accordance with laboratory standards and RHM specific requirements.
Ensures that QC testing is performed, recorded and evaluated according to established guidelines and that out-of-control results are resolved in a timely manner.
Coordinating with the regional director and medical center responsible VP, plans, develops and implements laboratory specific programs aligned with the strategic planning initiatives for the RHM and Saint Alphonsus System.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for testing of all age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric).
Revenue management: ensures the accuracy of coding, CDM management, appropriate documentation and supply management in the laboratory setting. Determines the overall mission and range of services, in conjunction with medical director and regional laboratory director. Works with physicians, regional director and staff to establish, implement, and monitor ongoing program goals and objectives.
Develops an annual operating budget in which projected expenses are fully supported by expected revenues and meets program objectives. Coordinates this effort with the regional director and responsible Vice President.
Must possess human relations, communications, and management skills, role modeling appropriate leadership behavior in all instances. Requires excellent communication and public speaking skills. Accounting, budgeting, cost management and other business skills helpful.
