About Laboratory Animal Veterinarian - Facility Manager

  Description

  The vivarium manager role provides clinical veterinary support, leadership, and collaboration to research programs at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute, a core facility responsible for the proper and humane care of research animals. Partners with investigators to innovate and conduct highly sophisticated immunology research projects and related animal care and IACUC duties. Procedures include surgical and anesthesia support, the development and assessment of new or existing animal models and an interest in working closely with basic and physician scientist to provide the best animal care and the most useful translational information. This position involves teaching, communication, and collaboration with a diverse group of researchers and staff, including residents and visiting scientists, animal care staff, graduate students, undergraduates, and the veterinary staff.

  Required qualifications:

  DVM or VMD from accredited college or university.

  upon hire: Current Oregon state licensure for veterinary medicine.

  5 years in veterinary medicine, preferably with research animals.

  3 years Leadership experience with direct reports

  The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
