About This Role:
A Lab Manager position is now available in the Urban Food Production andPostharvest Handling Lab within the Department of Horticulture andNatural Resources at Kansas State University based at the KSU, Olathe,KS Campus.
The selected candidate will work with Dr. Eleni Pliakoni and thePostharvest Physiology team to perform and oversee physical, chemical,and nutritional quality analysis of fresh produce and hemp by using andmaintaining analytical instrumentation like liquid (HPLC/UV, UPLC/MS)and gas chromatography (GC, CG/MS) for research and service. Thecandidate will also create and implement plans, strategies and SOP\'s toensure that all lab operations are in accordance with university, stateand federal regulations and guidelines. The Lab Manager will coordinatethe accusation, storage, inventory and management of supplies and labequipment. The candidate will mentor students and manage clientrelationships who utilize lab services and contribute to universityresearch by designing and implementing projects and writing researchresults/interpretation. And finally, they will perform someadministrative duties, such as writing reports.

What You\'ll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor\'s degree and one-year relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Master\'s degree in analytical chemistry or related degree (ex:chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, food science,horticulture, agronomy, soil science, plant physiology or relateddiscipline).Two years of relevant experience with HPLC/UV, UPLC/MS, andspectrophotometric systems for measuring plant metabolites,including cannabinoids, phenolic acids, and flavonoids as well asexperience with gas chromatography or GC/MS.Two years of relevant laboratory experience.Experience with molecular biology techniques (RNA/DNA isolation,Real-Time PCR etc.).BioinformaticsIndividual must show initiative, motivation, and work well within agroup.Applicant should have strong attention to detail and goodorganization skills with an ability to maintain accurate records.E cellent time management and project management skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Proficiencies in Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint.Interest to work in a postharvest physiology lab.Experience with the use of statistical programs like SAS or similar.How to Apply:
