Description:
The Lab Tech will primarily work in sample prep – dry, pulverize, digest with acid, filter, etc. – and will also be involved in the analytical steps (using various analytical instruments). Catalogue samples, data entry and general lab duties to help follow SOP's. Experience preferred with testing minerals in the Lab, along with analytical and physical chemistry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Ideally a background with handling metallic minerals and mineral assays whether in industry or school (example fields of study: geology, minerals, mining, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, soil, geotechnical labs).
• Laboratory experience in a minerals or metals testing environment;
• Strong science background , ideally a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Good record keeping skills and attention to detail;
• Ability to accurately follow Standard operating Procedures (SOP’s) and instructions;
