KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of free, public charter schools that prepares students for success in college and life. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in The Bronx. Our goal was to graduate students with the strength of character and academic abilities needed to succeed in high school, college and beyond - and in so doing, to prove what is possible for all students. Today, our New York City network is comprised of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a comprehensive support program for our alumni. KIPP NYC Public Schools currently serves more than 9,350 students and alumni and has a staff of more than 850. KIPP NYC is continuing to grow and opened two new middle schools and an elementary school August 2021!
Job Description
Position Overview:
The Director of Individual Giving will play a key role on our Development Team, expanding and increasing our individual giving portfolio. Through direct cultivation of donor relationships, including new individual supporters, the Director of Individual Giving will also develop programs and systems to maintain and increase annual fundraising as well as collaborate with our regional leadership to support major giving from individuals. The Director of Individual Giving will report to the Managing Director of Development and be a part of the KIPP NYC External Affairs team.
This role is based in NYC and will require travel to our schools. Cadence and frequency of travel to schools is determined by your leadership team. If you relocate outside of a commutable distance or out of the state of NY, your employment will be subject to review, which may include separation from KIPP NYC. It is important that you notify HR if you move or have plans to relocate.
Due to the nature of the department's work, this position may require time outside of general working hours, including, but not limited to, event coverage, social media management, and/or communications distribution.
General Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintain and expand the current annual fund and other online appeals through high-quality, mission-driven donor communications, including stories from schools and program teams to bring our work to lifeLead direct fundraising and stewardship for a portfolio of current individual donors and attract new fundersSupport cultivation of mid and high-level donors through written correspondence, proposals, reports, and meeting briefings to advance the individual giving portfolio and support senior leadership and Trustees with their fundraising effortsEnvision, plan and execute inspiring small to mid-sized events to meet, cultivate, and steward individual supporters, and support large events for the overall KIPP NYC donor communityPlan and create a mid-level individual giving program or community to increase the sense of belonging and connection for our individual supportersSupport strategic plans for cultivating a portfolio of major gifts prospects, including upgrading current donors, stewardship and gratitude, events and regular communicationsPrepare and maintain comprehensive donor profiles and donor strategy, in collaboration with the Prospect Research Associate, including a robust system for ensuring donor follow up Oversee the creation of all donor-facing materialsServe as a partner with the Leadership Council, KIPP NYC's young professionals group, and their program of volunteering, education events and their fundraiser, SIP for KIPP
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in related fieldMinimum 5 years of relevant fundraising experience, including 2 years of management experience preferredExperience with Raiser's Edge or similar constituent relationship management tools Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel skills requiredStrong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders across the organization Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentAbility to exercise discretion and judgment with the handling of highly sensitive and confidential informationA demonstrated passion for and commitment to the core values of our mission, public education and social justice with a desire to create a work environment that embraces and appreciates diversity

Compensation and Benefits:
KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $105,060 to $120,510 per year. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity, accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities, and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band. Starting salaries typically fall in the lower half of the salary range, however they are ultimately determined by scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.
