  Job Summary:

  AKIMA Construction Group consists of multiple companies (Portico, Jade Creek and our newly formed 8(a) Artic Peak) and is rapidly growing within the Southeast region of the USA. Jade Creek (An AKIMA Company) is seeking Junior Construction Project Manager with some recent experience supporting  Federal construction projects. We provide global Construction Management Services as a General Contractor in support the federal government (DoD, DoJ & FedCiv).

  The Junior PM will work with senior staff and will oversee one or more smaller projects under 10 million in value. Our PMs typically manage a team of professionals that comprise the Project Management Office, which includes a Safety Manager, Scheduler, Estimator, Project Specialist, and Site Superintendent.  

  As Junior Federal Construction Project Manager, you will provide leadership and management over assigned current and future construction/renovation contracts. In this position, you will manage project schedules, gather required project data and updates, research pertinent issues, create reports and presentations, and handle special projects as assigned.

  Our goal for every project is simple: deliver the highest quality, lowest cost and longest lasting value for each of our customers. We are seeking a dedicated, growth oriented Junior PM with recent experience managing Federal construction projects.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge in quality and safety and understand project scheduling.

  This position may be based in a home office, or out of our Huntsville, AL supporting the Southeast area.   The position requires travel and onsite project support at various locations in the Southeast.

  Job Responsibilities:

  Responsible for ensuring multiple, concurrent, multi-discipline construction job orders are executed within customer project deadlines and budgets. The projects are executed in a time and materials environment; consist of major and minor renovation projects; and are dynamic in nature.

  Participates in the Post Award Kick-Off, Partnering, Pre-construction, Design Development, and Coordination meetings, as directed, during the conceptual and preconstruction phase of a project.

  Working with senior management, ensures that no construction begins prior to the Designer of Record (DOR) finalizing the design for each segment of work, and construction submittals are approved as required.

  On designated projects, the Junior PM will manage a team of professionals that comprise the Project Management Office, including a Safety Manager, Scheduler, Estimator, Project Specialist, and Site Superintendent, and will work with subcontractors.

  The Junior PM, with guidance, will be a key part of a team responsible for successful execution of all phases of work from project identification and capture, to estimating and scheduling, to safely executing construction activities, through attending all final job walks and providing marked up and as-built drawings at the end of each Job Order.

  Work involves managing one or more projects and the cost management and timely execution of work in accordance with job order budgets and agreed upon delivery schedules.

  With input from Senior PM, the Junior PM ensures new work is appropriately scoped, estimated, and a resource loaded schedule prepared (either MS Project or Primavera) for customer review and approval.

  Ensures the management team provides and maintains both the short-term (three week look ahead provided weekly), the long-term (task duration) schedules and the overall Integrated Resource Loaded Master Schedule.

  The Junior PM shall be well versed in the use and application of Microsoft Project.

  The multi-discipline construction operations are accomplished by union craftsmen and sub tier subcontractors.

  Safety is paramount, and the PM is responsible for safe execution of the work at multiple locations.

  Quality delivery determines follow on work. Although the Site Superintendent, General Foreman, and Foremen are responsible for quality control, the Junior PM is responsible for quality assurance on assigned projects.

  Responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships and evolving the team’s credibility to attract and capture new work.

  This role may require that company or personal vehicles may be driven.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  General working knowledge of the Federal and State codes, regulations, and standards relevant to construction (including, but not limited to, Federal OSHA and EPA regulations, NFPA Standards, ANSI Standards, and local building codes) and be able to implement these in the field.

  Must have or be able to obtain Level 1EM 385-1-1, CRP, First Aid, OSHA 30 hour certifications.

  Must have or be able to obtain the USACE construction quality management for the contractor certification.

  Must be tech savvy, able to research and write summary reports on project/program status

  Minimum 2 years of experience managing Federal construction projects, and/or job order contracts.

  Some college coursework or formal training in construction management.

  Working knowledge of Federal contracts, quality and safety standards is essential.

  Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

  Able to communicate clearly and concisely via email and keep up with steady email exchange with the clients daily.

  Must be able to keep track of status of between 5-10 active projects.

  Must be able to read, speak, understand and write English.

  Strong working understanding of MEP interior construction.

  Have experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.

  Desired Qualifications:

  Preferred degree (Associates minimum) in Construction / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management.

  Specialty inspection training and licenses/certs highly desired.

  MS Word, Excel.

  VISIO.

  Autodesk.

  MS-Project / Primavera.

  Cad/Revit.

  Estimating tools.

  Cognos.

  SharePoint.
