The Commissioning Specialist job family is responsible for activities related to testing, operations, and maintenance of a variety of permanent plant equipment and systems. The Commissioning Specialist will be directly responsible for supporting the department in the identification and tracking of commissioning requirements from source documents, administering the commissioning requirements management system, supporting test personnel, tracking and compiling test documentation and the development and/or maintenance of associated procedures.
This position is expected to utilize independent decision-making regarding resolution of problems. This position may coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
Review source documents for applicable requirements and, working with other staff, incorporate these into the Project designated requirements management system
Certify as a Commissioning Test Engineer II and perform duties of a Test Engineer II when assigned.
Act as Subject Matter Expert to capture, assign, sort and track applicable organization requirements through implementation and closeout
Develop and/or maintain relevant test program procedures and instructions
Remain apprised of operational status, ongoing modification activities and new or changing requirements applicable to the organization
Support requests for Design Authority/Design Agency to address design issues and to execute design changes as appropriate resulting from testing problems
Understand general system design and operation, including environmental, safety, and health aspects
Review Project design and other documents for testing, to include implementation actions, testing impacts, and the identification of alternative solutions
Support the development of test procedure work requests, field test personnel and the compilation of testing documentation
May be required to conduct or provide oversight for field testing activities under conduct of operations and conduct of test programs requiring compilation of objective evidence documentation for completed tests
Interface with subcontractors, vendors, and project support groups as needed
Identify deficiencies and initiate corrective actions
Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments
Ensures timely and accurate oral and written technical reports on assigned activities
Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment

REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education / Experience:
High School diploma plus 10 years related experience (startup/ operations/support/maintenance at high hazard manufacturing, waste treatment, and/or nuclear facility)
OR
Associate degree in a related discipline plus 8 years of related experience (startup/ operations/support/maintenance at high hazard manufacturing, waste treatment, and/or nuclear facility)
OR
Bachelor Degree plus 6 year of related experience (startup/ operations/support/maintenance at high hazard manufacturing, waste treatment, and/or nuclear facility)
Physical Requirements

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site .
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $112,835.92 - $178,251.96 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
