  SCHOOL/UNIT DESCRIPTION:

  Stanford Bio-X supports, organizes, and facilitates interdisciplinary research connected to biology and medicine. Ideas and methods embodied in engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, and other fields are being brought to bear upon important challenges in bioscience. In turn, bioscience creates new opportunities in other fields. Significant discoveries and creative inventions are accelerated through formation of new collaborative teams. Students and faculty are broadening and enriching their training in science and technology to more fully integrate fields, departments, and schools at Stanford. Educational events for Bio-X participants and for the public are planned to motivate thoughtful discussions of social and ethical issues connected with scientific advances.   POSITION SUMMARY:

  Reporting to the Bio-X Executive Director, the Computing Support Analyst 2 will be responsible for serving as one of the IT administrator liaisons between the Clark Center administrative/operational team and building occupants. The position will provide day-to-day desktop and laptop, and other technical support to Clark Center occupants, including support for a variety of machine types, network operating systems and protocols. In addition, the position will provide support of audiovisual needs for the building, and support for all IT needs for the Bio-X program and Clark Center building operations.

  CORE DUTIES:

  Diagnose and resolve end-user problems; respond to escalated issues from clients and other support teams; perform triage, provide remote problem resolution when possible, refer problems to associated groups.

  Research, recommend and implement hardware and software purchases and configurations to meet client needs and ensure compatibility with university systems and architecture.

  Research, recommend and implement approved standards used throughout the unit and contribute to the development of the client support strategy.

  Investigate and test new tools, systems, techniques, and software products.

  Provide technical guidance and training; may guide other staff.

  Work on projects requiring expertise and creativity in analysis and deployment of technology.

  May perform routine server administration.

  Additional Duties Include:

  Help with building’s audiovisual systems as needed for presentations, symposia, and seminars

  Help with Bio-X program applications and surveys as needed

  Help with poster printing and copy machines as needed.

  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  Education & Experience:

  Two-year college degree and two or more years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

  Experience working in a team, and working in an academic environment, is preferred.

  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  Ability to provide excellent client service.

  Ability to apply diagnostic techniques for problem troubleshooting.

  Ability to apply information technology best practices, including security (this includes information security or physical security, such as asset management) to problem resolution and troubleshooting.

  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

  Frequently sitting, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, bending, lifting, standing, and carrying equipment.

  Occasionally lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 21-40 pounds.

  Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, grasp forcefully.

  The expected pay range for this position is $66,560 - $112,000 per annum/hour.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
